Sam is not in the England lions squad.

What does this guy have to do !?

If I was him, I'd be regretting not pursuing playing for Australia.

Ahh that's fair, I hope it would be down to injury.

Do not want our players playing for England. Woakes got picked for tours and hardly played and was in squads for home Tests then got released but was too late to then play in the CC game that was going on at the time. He missed countless games for us whilst barely playing for England and that weakened us. Also, England have a habit of returning our players, injured or knackered. Having Sam out during an English Summer would weaken our batting and although I would love him to succeed at international level, I would like a successful England side but without nicking any more Warwickshire players. We might have won a few more titles over the years perhaps in 2011 and 2014 with Trott and Bell in the side.

Agreed that the Chris Woakes situation has been frustrating for a number of years with his injuries. Surely you wouldn't have wished to deprive Trotty and Ian Bell their wonderful test careers?

No of course not but I do often think of that brilliant side we had between 2011-2017 and yet we didn't win as much as we should have and only 1 title and 2 runners-up places. I just wonder how we would have played with 2 world-class batsmen in the side.

This must have been agreed ages ago, as Sam, & his agent are both currently in Sydney, for his agents wedding.

Is his agent Josh Poysden?

Yes it is.

Josh had a family background in the financial services industry, so a good direction for him to go after retiring from playing.

I hope that Josh is doing well.
I followed his career with interest because I interviewed him during his first match for Warwickshire and he came across as a lovely guy. I feel sorry that things didn't work out for him either at Edgbaston or with Yorkshire.
I know he played Grade cricket in Australia and was very highly thought of.
I hope the wedding is a great event.

From the picturres on social media, it looked a great event, with many players from Josh's time with Warwickshire attending.

Has signed as a replacement player for Brisbane Heat in the BBL. He grew up on the Gold Coast in QLD so its something of a homecoming for him.

That's good news for him.
He has family including a twin brother in Australia. I hope he doesn't get too comfortable with the Gold Coast sunshine and switch allegiance.

Sam will be playing for his old club Gold Coast Eagles in their first grade game this weekend.

They usually live stream their games, so you can watch him play overnight.

I guess he'll head straight for Sri Lanka, when he's finished with the Big Bash. He hasn't played for Brisbane yet, as he's a replacement for Billings or Munro, when they leave for other Leagues this week. Mind you, Brisbane are currently bottom, so it's likely he'll be finished in Australia at the end of Group games in January - plenty of time before the ODI commitments.

Still can't get a game for Brisbane Heat even after the departures of Billings and Munro...

Sam finally got to play a game for Brisbane. A small contribution - going in at number 5, he was run out for 6 (don't know if it was his error), but took one catch. At least Brisbane won.
