Has accepted an invitation to play in the Global Super League next month, July 10th to 18th.

He'll play for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Make of that what you will...

Is he not contracted to us!? If he's going to disappear for the climax of the t20 group stages he might as well be left out now.

Moody Moeen is just going through the motions. I thought his contract was until the end of July.

well we will certainly miss his athletic and enthusiastic fielding

Even though I don't have his book, by all accounts he had a go at Ashley Giles when both were playing in the first team or actually still both at the club. Perhaps Giles being at Worcester might have made him want to leave and we were the obvious choice and being where Moeen lives. Since he has been here, I do get a 'Just going through the motions' scenario with him and once he has gone in July, is that it. I hope so. He does come across as moody, unenthusiastic and generally lets off a vibe of wanting to be elsewhere. His best years are well behind him so why he keeps getting 'Franchise' offers is beyond me.

A really sad end to the club's association with Moeen. I wish him nothing but the best but it does feel as though he's looked upon the last 3 summers as a backstop to his other commitments with him phoning in most if his contributions. Suspect his performances for the 16.4 side will be of a magnitude more enthusiastic and effective.

Could be wrong but think he said he isn't gonna play in the hundred, which makes it all the more bizzare

It should have been announced that the Pears match was Moeen's farewell. Perhaps it sums up his return to the club that he just slips out of the backdoor without any fanfare.

Good, he's gone. I didn't ever want him back and he hasn't done enough to ever justify a good send-off. He wanted a salary to keep himself going until the next franchise opportunity and we were very convenient seeing as he lives so close. He can take his long, moody face away and we don't have to see him again and his absence gives someone else a chance and someone who actually wants to be in our teams.

I feel some of the comments above are mean and classless. Moeen has made a great contribution to English cricket, not just on the field, but as a hero to a large part of the local population.

While his return was not the success we'd all have liked, we should be respectful to him as a person and for his contribution to our sport.

There are several players who have done less, and made less effort for the club over the last 3 seasons.

Newver been a fan of his since the way he left to join Worcs at the start of his career. Evident then he plays for Moeen IMO. Agreed he has made a good contribution to English cricket but I would not say it has been a great contribution.

I partly agree with what Highveld says about the rather 'sharp' criticism of Moeen's attitude to playing for us, but the awful manner of his leaving can not be dismissed. The fact that the official announcement of him going took place after the occasion, is probably the fault of club, given the terrible situation with the website at the moment, but there should have been some news of it before the game, if only as a matter of respect to supporters.

I agree with this. Whilst this forum should endorse freedom of speech, being mean and unkind and expressing opinions as if they were facts don't show us at our best.

Well ,we all see things differently but when he was first here, he made no secret of wanting to play with his cousin Kabir at Worcester and it was reflected when watching him play, body-language speaks volumes. It looked as bad then as it did after the 2019 World Cup triumph when the look on his face looked as though he had seen his team mates being beaten and although he was disappointed at being left out for Plunkett, it was justified as he had been very poor when he did play. So many had pointed out his attitude when he was playing as though he would rather be elsewhere. I do not want to pay my membership to watch this. Years ago we had a player who was on the fringes of the side, got so near, got the odd Sunday game, got left out again and kept saying his time would come and he would do everything to grasp a spot and keep it. He came out to field sub with a smile on his face, came out with drinks with the same attitude, people in the crowd called his name and he waved with a smile. He always looked happy to be around and his attitude was praised by everyone and he became a favourite with supporters before he became a regular first team member and that was because his 100% 'Positive Giving' attitude was apparent for all to see. That player was Roger Twose and between 1992 when he broke into the side until 1995 when he emigrated to New Zealand, he contributed to so much that made us the best team around. That is the sort of player I am happy to see and pay membership for, the example might be extreme and RT might have been a one-off but I like players who appear as though they want to be at the club.

In that case we look forward to reading your comments about various players who while nunder contract to the club, are never seen at the ground, never play and rush off to a franchise league, ignoring their Warwickshire contract. Also your thoughts on overseas players who arrive without disclosing an existing injury and spend their time here on a paid holiday, with no intention of ever playing, and the players who make no effort whatsoever when selected.

They are probably already there is the archive somewhere. I observe things like everyone and give an opinion, that is what this forum is for. I make no apology if my opinions do not fit in with yours, as I said in my last post, "Well, we all see things differently".

Are you sure we are all allowed to have opinions here? There are times when more freedom of opinion is allowed in North Korea, especially about under performing mediocre opening batsmen!

I could always delete your post just to prove your point.
Seriously, as a moderator, I think the only posts I have deleted are where someone has accidentally double posted. Otherwise, everything has stayed on the site. And as far as I know, no posters have been eliminated by having falls from windows or anything similar.
There's a difference between not being allowed to express an opinion and other posters making it clear that they disagree with that opinion.

Very true, I can be "micschivious" at times too.

Having stood in the middle at varying grades of cricket, I am fully aware how talented anyone who gets to play the game at the first class standard is.
