Of course both sides are allowed fully participating substitutes for any players that leave for England duties.

Will those substitutes have to be from the original 13-man squad? If so we're a bit stuck as OHD and Bresnan are both injured!

Hain, Yates, Burgess, Briggs in consideration?

Stokes, Carse for Durham

No they can utilize the seconds team at Portland Rd. Durham will have to drive one of their youngsters up from Beckenham. They had Covid in their camp a few weeks ago so are a bit threadbare.

Looks like Danny Briggs may be in for England and out for the Bears, maybe Carse and definitely Stokes for Durham. But Hain misses out.

The substitutes can be any player legitimately registered for the club. Obviously thay would have to be England qualified.

If that's the case, what does Hain have to do to get an England call-up?!

I agree.

Excellent for Briggs.
But in my head that just shows England have no interest in Hain no matter what. Which is bizarre.

Does he still have opportunity to play for Australia ? Must be considering a switch now.

So Ethan Brookes in for Danny Briggs.

Struggling for wickets here, which is understandable when (as the commentator pointed out) we are missing Woakes, Stone, OHD, Bresnan, H Brookes and Briggs.

However it is a worry we can't even get their nightwatchman out on a wicket that only one of our batsman scored on (which again suggests our batting was indeed below par again).

A win from here would seem very unlikely with the current score and weather forecast, so we need to try and come out of this with as many bonus points, as much confidence and as few injuries as possible.

I think getting in is key on this pitch. As they found early on, if batsmen het through the first 20 balls, wickets are hard to come by, but get 1 and it’s a very tough pitch to get started on.

We need to do what they did, bowl tight, make them fight for runs, and really bring down the run rate.
It’s fine if they bat for a session, because if they’re still below 100, then a couple of quick wickets really changes things.

Would be difficult for him after so much residency here. I don't know his parents status (ie are they aussie) and also don't know if he has played for the England second team or not. If he's played for the Lions it makes it very hard to change. Perhaps most important l don't know if he wants to do that or not - and he's said before he's more English than Aussie.

Seeing Derbyshire collapse against Notts is very frustrating. Notts might get the win there, which would be inconvenient.
However, draw this and the next with a few bonus points, and it would be hard to see how we wouldn’t qualify.

Notts winning is great for Bears. The teams who qualify take half of the points they gained from the other qualifier into the next phase. As we’ve beaten Notts x2 this would be brilliant. At the start of the current match we needed a maximum of 23 points to qualify - this total obviously decreases as other teams fail to take points.

It’s great if we qualify agreed.
But them winning basically guarantees their qualification. Which means they’ll have less to play for against Durham.
And it’s between 3 teams for 1 place, rather than 4 for 2.

But Notts haven’t got less to play for. Why would they want to give Durham the chance of a win, when it would count against them in the next stage if Durham qualify?
