Don't know how it all works. Woakes would be playing county cricket right now if he wasn't at the IPL, no doubt.

Warming the bench in the IPL. Hasn't played any competitive cricket since early Feb.

Not a great weather forecast as far as I can tell...

Naqqash Tahir?

Isn't getting a game in the IPL as far as I can tell, if he doesn't make England T20 squad for the World Cup we could see him at some point this summer...

I raised this when we let H Brookes go having already released Garrett and Johal.

We've always been poor at bringing through homegrown seamers and as far as I'm aware there is nobody coming through.

OK we seem to have opened an end up.

Difficult pitch to score quickly on I think.

Not exactly riveting stuff is it...

Unrelated but George Garrett 43* at lunch for Kent .

In hindsight it looks poor.
But if Bethell and Ali don’t throw their wickets away, you could make the argument, it’s far better to push for 500-550, accept missing the 400 bonus point to keep Hampshire out there and try only bat once.

As it is, unless we see more OHD and Burgess miracle partnerships reaching that sort of score is going to be very tough.

Agree. And the dismissals in isolation look poor but Hampshire bowled pretty well this morning I thought. We still scored over 100 runs in the session.

They've always compared fairly favourably in comparison to some other regular openers.

Yeah I've no sound either

Joel Paris would have been terrific, left armer with a pretty amazing First Class record and plays in an extremely strong WA side.

Hasan for the injured Rushworth.

Still no Hain? Surprised after he made appearance as sub v Durham on day 4.

Dukes ball back.

No Keith Barker. Appears Hampshire will line up with the same XI that drew with Lancashire.

A ground we've traditionally struggled on though we did win there last season.

Been bald as a coot for a while now I think

Tom Rogers

What did they look like?

Maybe he's still finding his way after injury? Don't think he's a top 5 batter at the moment.

Going forward how would people feel about leaving Briggs out of the side in 4day cricket whilst using Yates and Mousley/Bethell to bowl the spin overs? For sure they'd still be times we'd pick Briggs on certain pitches against certain opponents but we could also have the option of leaving him out and playing an extra seamer or batter.

Incredible effort to give us a sniff, Yates outbowling Briggs.

I'm also impressed we used 9 bowlers.

Yeah I like that, if you have the resources use them, particularly with the spinners, you just never know.
