When we were 10/2 with Latham out the writing was on the wall. Disappointing from Ed Barnard and Webster looked comfortable until he was dismissed. Hain was looking more comfortable but left a ball that jagged back for lbw. It mainly boils down to a poor first innings where we fell 40 or 50 short and their tail got too many.
I think we haven't had much luck - lost the toss, then clear and sunny for Hampshire to bat most of yesterday. We've batted mostly in gloomy conditions. Now at 194 all out the weather has gone sunny just in time for Hampshire to start their second innings shortly!
132/5 now. Good effort on this wicket. Surprised that Simmons hasn't bowled, hopefully there's no injury issue?
That's unlucky for Booth. He's had such a positive start. Hopefully it's not too serious.
It would be good if the Bears could beat Surrey. That would set down a real statement of intent. We have a decent chance with the squad choices. Hopefully Hain will be fit.
Good to see Tom Latham in contention. I presume he'll come in for Hamza Shaikh? Surrey have 3 players missing through call ups for England duty.
Great win against stiff opposition! Even with 3 England batsmen they couldn't muster many runs. Well done to our batsmen and bowlers, it should give them confidence from this experience.
Nice to see Jacob score 55 off 33 balls for RCB in the IPL. He and Virat Kohli put on a stand of 97. RCB won by 2 runs. Good to see Jacob mixing with the best! It can only help him develop....
Ethan Bamber is a great signing! Considering Yorkshire have England's Root, Brooks and Bairstow it's a sterling performance by our bowlers!
With Tom Latham, Beau Webster and later Hasan Ali, things could look a lot better soon. Thankfully we've had a solid start despite so many players being unavailable early season.
I see varying heights for Beau Webster. Some say 6'4" & some at 6'7"? Either way, he sounds a tall guy and powerful!
Update from Ian Westwood on Beau Webster: He should be in the UK by early next week and could be available for the Yorkshire CC away fixture on 2nd May.
Update from Ian Westwood is that Tom Latham is due in the UK for the beginning of May and should be available for the Surrey CC game on 9th May, so good news! We certainly need his batting experience.
Play to resume at 3:45pm.....36 overs remaining. I think this could be a defeat unless the rain returns around 5:00pm. A pity that Kai Smith was dismissed very late last night. Ed Barnard needs to be smart and take the majority of the strike where possible.
Oh Oh.......the groundsmen are starting to roll the covers back as its stopped raining. An early tea is to be taken at 3:10pm. This suggests some play is possible perhaps around 4:00pm? However, the Met office suggests heavy showers around 5 to 6:00pm? This could be awkward for the Bears!

No doubt about having been outplayed, even allowing for the big advantage of winning the toss. I'm not so sure about the suggestion of having been out-thought - Notts may have made a major blunder in batting too slowly and for too long on day three, which puts them at the mercy of the weather gods on day four.
In my defence, your Honour, may I quote the words of that esteemed expert, Mr George Dobell: "Given that forecast, might Nottinghamshire have batted with a little more intent on the third day? Or, indeed, declared? Well, they might. They managed only 52 in the first 22 overs of the day. "
I’m praying you are right Terry but I don’t see how. We still have to score another 111 runs. They batted at 3.88 runs per over. We batted at 2.5 and 2.7. We picked five seamers. They already have a spinner with a wicket.
My forecast is showing only a possibility of rain in the morning and even that clearing around 3pm.
I’m not impressed with our coaching, captaincy or selection this season
I look forward to being wrong tomorrow!
I think (hope) it'll be a washout. Even if it stops raining after lunch it'll take sometime for the outfield to dry out. We've had several hours of persistent rain. We don't really deserve a draw, but it'll be a bonus.
We're still missing genuine pace in our bowling attack. Obviously Hasan Ali joining next month will help - fitness permitting. Chris Rushworth seems to be dogged by injury problems - he barely played last season and is out again. For a big club like Warwickshire we need to assess our recruitment with overseas players in particular.
The weather forecast looks helpful to the Bears today. A rain band moves west to east until this afternoon. Let's hope play gets abandoned! Notts may regret not declaring earlier yesterday.
Josh Tongue looks sharp. Did we not try to sign him before he left Worcestershire?
After the heroics at Durham I thought they would gain confidence. Worrying when the opposition Notts really aren't very good.
