Lancashire were spared...

Durham away tomorrow, Stokes available, Durham are having a pretty good season and Chester le Street is a tough place to play.

Bears win.

Weather looks OK.
It could be a tough game without Woakes, Stone and Lintott. A pity that Alex Thomson is on loan to Derbyshire because he could fit in as a replacement for Lintott - second spinner who can also bat.

What does Lintott testing positive mean for the rest of the squad? Will they all need to undergo testing? I’m not sure what the process is.

The official preview says: " No members of the Bears squad have been in contact with Lintott since the development of the symptoms, with a regular testing process covering all players."

Very good to see Jacob Bethall is included in the squad for the first time.

I'd expect that the playing staff, and key support staff are probably taking regular tests to show they are covid free.
As a covid infected person can be contaheous for several days before they show symptons contat tracing takes place to find put, and then notify, anyone in contact with the covid infected person. Therefore it would not be a surprise if other members of the squad from the game at Leicester are found to test positive over the next few days.

Hose back in (for Malan) and Bethell (making his 1st team debut) for Lintott.

Durham won the toss and chose to bat first.

The openers just started off this chase far too slowly. Put everyone behind them under pressure to catch it up later.

We seem to have this trouble regularly over the last few years, openers are inconsistent and don’t take full advantage of the power play, they catch up in the middle a bit, but just lose wickets at the end as they just have to hit out to try and get 12 or more an over.
A shame, as this was definitely achievable with a good start,

Just couldn't quite get going could we. It's a really difficult ground to chase on with the longer boundaries and the odd angles at wide long on and wide long off.

Damage was done with the ball though.
