Thanks Andy. I couldn't find the reference easily. Might be quite elegant that way around if he is surplus to quota then Che can step in. That is if he is fully qualified as well...

Pretty sure Dobell mentioned in a recent article that Booth doesn't qualify until after the 2025 season. I'll go back and take a look if I can find it.
Webster seems like a pretty useful cricketer, he also bowls off spin, he's bowled it in Tests, and he's a decent slip fielder.
*Edit to say: Booth not registered as a local player until next season.
Yep, still an 'Overseas player' this season. But at least he'll be able to play with Webster, until Latham arrives. So, in the Yorkshire game we'll have both (and we can't drop Booth, he's been our best bowler this season). The home game against Surrey will enforce a difficult decision, as Latham is due to be here then.
Looking at 2nds performances this season, doesn't lead to much confidence in Simmons being able to step in - just a few (very expensive) wickets.

I flagged up, in the Notts Home thread, one 'new' seam bowling option for our 1st team, that could be a replacement for Booth in the Surrey game. George Garton. Although signed chiefly for white ball cricket, Larsen did say, "he also gives us the flexibility of a red ball call up, if needed". That could be the situation now?
He has a reasonable CC record - 55 wickets at an average of 37 - in the early part of his career was seen as a potential England opening bowler, is a genuinely quick 'leftie', a decent lower order batsmen (hence his recruitment, mainly for T20) and crucially, he has said he would welcome more red ball opportunities, if asked. I would hope he might be considered - and Stuart Barnes has been tasked to help develop him, in that regard.

I'd give Simmons a go. He was hardly pulling up any trees last year before his debut and he had a good game then. Did well pre season just gone by all accounts.
Cricinfo says about Beau Webster:
"When Webster, who replaced Mitchell Marsh in the Test side and has previously played for Gloucestershire, was initially signed by Warwickshire it was for a three-month stint until the end of July but he is certain to be included in Australia's WTC final squad and for the three Tests that follow in West Indies and finish on July 16."

He finishes with us on 16 July, or the 3 WI Tests finish on the 16th? If the former, he actually only misses one T20 group game (Derbyshire). But a big shame he'll miss the QF's (if we get there - again!).

Test series in the Caribbean starts late June and finishes mid July I believe so 16th sounds about right.
The World Test Championship starts on Wednesday 11 June, so depending on when the Aussie squad meets up for that Webster's last game for us could be as early as 31 May when we play Durham in the Vitality Blast. We are scheduled to play 2 mores games in that competition on the 6 & 8 June but he could well be preparing for the WTC by then.
The West Indies tests are scheduled to start on 25 June & finish on 16 July, if he does come back after then he could play on 18 July against Derbyshire (VB) & on 22 July against Worcestershire (CC).
Not overly surprised at the news that Beau will be missing for a while on international duty. Frustrating to see that Hassan Ali’s presence will now be limited due to being awarded a central contract by the PCB.
