Sub-par fielding by our standards as well. Several boundaries let go that should have been stopped.

This is garbage although it is the first game but with a big score on the board, it is a worry going forward if we cannot defend 226. Garton lost the plot last season v Worcestershire and someone needs to have a word with him or else he will appear to not know what to do every time he gets hit around.

Geez we need reinforcements or could be painful this season

Really hope I'm wrong

Might save us the annual QF horror show though given we've started with one this year

That was utterly abysmal...please don't tell me Sylvester is going to bowl the lost over...

Nope. Che and Taz in tomorrow. Yates to 2, Lytham to 3, Kai to keep

Apart from Lintott, that was awful.

That still doesn't fill me with any confidence

If we can’t defend 226 against one of the weakest teams from last season then I really fear for our chances. We HAVE to recruit a bowling all rounder pronto. Having Miles and Sylvester in the same team was never going to end well.

When is Gleeson going to be back, and what about Mousley?

Just so poor and I like him as a batsman but Davies is never a captain in a thousand years. I wish he'd just concentrate on batting or keeping, he's not up to doing all 3!!

Terrible stuff, probably the worst 20 overs of bowling I have seen from the Bears.

I wasn't particularly looking forward to this season with some of the players that have left but I at least thought we might have a more joined up recruitment plan.

Agree, this is another one of our problems that has not been fixed.

Barnard should take over captaincy.

We were not as bad as some are saying - IMHO - to me it was those 2 overs to end the PP costing us over 50 runs that did it for us. We were playing catch-up after that. Given an average score in those overs could well have seen Notts needing another 25 runs at the end.

I don’t really care about T20 especially when we play under silly names but this comment is interesting and confirms my view about his captaincy in first class cricket!

Might be without Hain tomorrow.

Couple of little tweaks, Yates isn't a regular t20 player for us but he has had some decent games for us in this comp as an opener so get him back up there.

Can Latham take the gloves? Just because he's a pretty poor outfielder, not hugely mobile and looks as though he's on the same diet as Sylvester.

Trent Bridge is an incredibly difficult ground to defend on to be fair. You either have to bowl very full or go splice length. The only one who tried to do that was Miles.

Garton, this kid is weak. You see it in his face and you see it in his action. He'll have good games but he'll have more bad ones. Baffles me when people call for him to be in the 4day side. He can bat though and is a worthy fielder.

The selection of Sylvester was a weird one. I still think without recruitment we have better bowlers available than him right now. You telling me OHD couldn't have done a better job? He has death bowling experience too. Have we not anybody in the academy who can bowl serviceable seam? Blakemore? Where's Che?

Even with all the players missing i still don't think we picked our best XI from those available tonight.

Onto tomorrow, put the boundaries out, prepare a turner, pick Briggs, Lintott and Taz and hope the oppo hole out?

Also, we really, really miss Dan Mousley in this format, if anything for his bowling. With him playing we may just about have defended that tonight. He gets wickets.

Excellent post Andy.
OHD can do a job in this format. Dicky Gleeson and Hassan Ali can't arrive soon enough.
Garton is an unfortunate legacy of Robinson. He will be on a fantastic salary and rarely delivers in the dozen or so games he turns out for every season. Get rid.

That's fair.

Agree about Dan. It's mad he misses the first 4 T20 games just to give the touring India side some batting practice!

I didn't enjoy having to edit my colleague Jamie's report from Trent Bridge - but here it is:

Gleeson finishes in the IPL Sunday or Tuesday so might be available for Yorks next Friday. Hassan finishes on Sunday so he should be back. Unless Pakistan say no!
