Just looked at DB's CC Bowling averages thos season - 166.4 overs, 7 for 607, averaging 86.71! Awful?! How can Management justify constantly picking him. Of course, he remains a key white ball bowler, but First Class?

They've given just one game to Jake Lintott (who tops the bowling averages at 6.00 - 3 for 18, off 6.5). I know he's not a long term answer, but surely he should be given a chance - and certainly in these last 2 games?

He's only played six games out of 12; but I do think his credentials as a red ball bowler are extremely dubious.

If Bethell and Mousley are going to be missing we will be very short of anyone who can turn the ball. An emergency call to Lintott might be in order.
(Tongue in cheek) or we could ask Somerset if we could borrow Shoaib Bashir since he seems to be their third choice spinner now!

He will be a massive loss to our T20 team. It’s a shame that he is leaving but you can’t blame him for wanting to go back to his family area at this stage of his career.

I suppose if he isn't playing CC cricket for us, he has to wait ages to get a game and if we get knocked-out (If!) of cup games, his season is over. A huge loss to the T20 side as yesterdays figures will suggest, everyone else, 186 from 16 overs at 11.62 and he conceded 23 off 4 overs.

He's been our most consistent bowler for a long time and probably still has a good few years left in his playing career

He's a class act in limited overs cricket but he's never looked at all impressive with a red ball in his hand. He may well bounce around the franchise circuits for a while and good luck to him.
It leaves a gap - or an opportunity - for a slow bowler who can keep things tight. Are we talking an upskilled Mousley or is it time for Taz Ali?

oh, dear. on a personal level I will miss watching a class act in the flesh but i think his absence may well expose out bowling lineup, he has consistently got us out of jail the same way Jeetan used to.

He'll be missed in the Blast side, where he does a lot of the heavy lifting, always bowls the tough overs, etc, it's correct that he's not part of our 4day side though.

Decent player, terrific lad, lovely family, he's 34 though and he'll be on the slide. It's a move that suits all parties I'd say.

Sad to see Danny go but you can understand why the move back and chance to do some coaching appeals to him. Excellent T20 bowler, The Bears may struggle without him and although he sometimes struggled to take wickets in first class games he was a big part of our 2021 cc win, 33 wickets at under 22.

I shall be sorry to see him go, hasn’t quite lived up to his potential in the four day format, but as others have said, he will certainly be sorely missed in T20 and be hard to replace.

I wonder if his departure might increase our appetite for signing Shoaib Bashir, especially as Taz Ali is still learning his trade and Jake Lintott seems to have gone completely off the boil?

A good move for Danny. He has been excellent for us for the past five years and he deserves to take this opportunity towards the end of his career.
This may explain the interest in Bashir but Briggs will be difficult to replace in the white ball cricket.
