A strong team:-
Wylie
Yates
Malik
Jani
Smith
Dandy (Keeper)
Lintott (Captain)
Bamber
Taz Ali
Sylvester
OHD
However, we lost the toss and Durham chose to bat.

Not too bad a start, Durham 64 for 4 off 9 overs. 2 wickets for OHD.
Notts beat Hampshire in the other Semi.

74 for 6 off 12 now. A wicket apiece for the 4 other bowlers - Sylvester, Lintott, Bamber and Taz.

Durham, 102 all out. 3 wickets for Bamber, 2 for OHD, Sylvester & Lintott, 1 for Taz.
We SHOULD be favourites now - hopefully the 2nds won't have the 1sts 'bottling problem'!

They're getting close to 'bottling' it - 75 for 5 off 12 overs! Dandy & Lintott trying to save it. Can't be the wicket, Notts got 180 and Hampshire, 160, with few problems.

Phew, well, we squeezed home, largely thanks to a patient 18NO by the Captain. Yates, Malik & Dandy were the only others to get into double figures. Yates did, what Yates' so often does these days - get in, score 23 in 16 balls (including 3x4's and a 6) and then promptly sky another! It hardly sets us up nicely for the Final though!

Unchanged for the Final. Again, we lose the toss and again, the opposition choose to bat. I'm not confident! Notts always seem to get one over on us and they have got a strong (though, mainly young) lineup.

Well, that was quite a recovery. Notts were sailing along on 95 for 2 off 9 overs, when we pegged them back. They finished on 148 all out (in 16 overs). The star of the bowling was OHD, taking 4 for 17 in 2.5 overs, but he was ably assisted by Taz Ali, with 3 for 24 in his 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Lintott & Sylvester - though both were expensive (above 10 an over). Surprisingly, Bamber didn't bowl more - he had 2 overs for just 13 runs. That is a reasonable target to cahse - though we are talking Bears batting fragility here!

Excellent effort at the end by Bamber to bring home the trophy.

Yep, Warwickshire have finally won a T20 Final in the 'modern age'! We were really looking dead and buried at 110 for 7, needing 38 more runs in just over 4 overs. But Ethan B and Taz did it. Bamber hit 28 in 16 balls, with 2x4's and 2x6's, Taz helped out with 13 in 10 balls ands we got there with TA hitting a 4, with 4 balls left.

Great, given how Notts had posted a decent score and our specialist batters didn't really shine (with the possible exception of Vaansh Jani, who hit 3x6's in his 28 off 19 - though he tried that once too often), I never imagined we'd do it. A great performance.

I do think we've got to give some praise to our Captain, Jake L. More for his batting (in both the Semi and the Final), than his bowling, but mainly for the way he directed his field settings in both matches, changed bowlers when needed and more importantly, for the way he constantly gee'd up the players, encouraging and cajoling, as required. If only we had a First team Captain like that?! Let's hope we, as a Club, learn from this.

But for now, rejoice, Bears can hold their heads up high tonight.

C'mon you ......... !

I don't thinkthe Club has got round to reporting on the win; but here is the Notts report:

The first Trophy we've won for a while - and no report on the Club website (yet), says so much about how us supporters are valued. I know there's no Media chief at Edgbaston at the moment, but surely someone there knows how to post an article!

Still not so much as a mention of it on our website. It comes to something when the runner's up post details and the winners don't bother to! Our website really is poor - for example, there is fleeting reference to the World Championship of Legends matches being played at Edgbaston, but nowhere can I see details of when, who is playing etc. I have found some info on the WCL website and matches at Edgbaston start tomorrow - details below if anyone is interested. Looks as if a few old Bears are in the England squad, including Ian Bell, Tim Ambrose and Mo Ali, which is interesting because I think he's currently turning out for Guyana in the Caribbean T20! A few other former Bears appear for other nations too, including Imran Tahir, Shiv Chanderpaul and Fidel Edwards, who I seem to recall played a game for us whilst on loan, although I may be mistaken.

Even Durham who were defeated semi-finalists have an on-line report now:

Yes Fidel played T20 for us in 2019, didn't he take a load of wickets in his first game?

Three wickets in his first over.
