Interesting that new team names are possible.
The Birmingham City Knights sounds pretty good to me, playing in a Royal Blue and White kit, maybe even the traditional "Penquin" broad white stripe.

With the new Sports Quarter stadium, it would not be a surprise to see some the the games played at the new stadium, especially as Knighthead Capital are part owners of the team.

There's as much chance of that new stadium appearing as there is of Alex Davies captaining England!

We will see!

Sadly Alex D has already captained England Lions so madder things, and players of equal unsuitability and lack of talent have captained England.

I've just written my now traditional letter to the club, as a member, requesting that the 16.6 over team franchise be kicked out of the club shop as they aren't Warwickshire (or England); and all references to the orange (#F2673B) cuckoos be removed from the club website and club press releases as they detract from actual Warwickshire teams playing in their 50 over one-day competitions.

I know I'm pissing in the wind. But hey-ho.

Just an observation that we are now in the height of summer and this board has gone as quiet as it is in the depths of winter - because there is NO CRICKET BEING PLAYED. How did this happen?

I've heard from a journalist friend, that Jonathan Trott is in discussions to take over from Vettori as Phoenix Head Coach.

I would think that this is quite likely. He is leaving the Afghanistan post having never been to the country; and he still lives in Birmingham.

I think JT could do a good job for Phoenix. His experience (and record) in getting Afghanistan as one of the better white ball international teams, is noteworthy. Vettori did OK, but never managed to get any Trophy and Phoenix always seemed to do a 'Warwickshire' in getting close to success, but never achieving anything.

It will be good to see Jonathan back in his old stomping ground, just sad that it's not with 'proper cricket' at Edgbaston.
