It is time to inject some interest for the new season which starts fairly soon !

So

First 11 v Surrey (what would you go with)
Top run scorer first class
Top wicket tacket first class

First class position
Blast position
One day cup position

Player of the season
Young player of the season

With the number of new signings plus uncertainty about who might be playing franchise or international cricket, I'm a bit confused as to exactly who constitutes our squad for 2026. Even so, you probably don't need to look beyond Sam Hain for leading run scorer and Chris Woakes (if he stays fit) should have some fun against County level batsmen on early season pitches.
We'll have enough to stay well clear of relegation (if there is any) but we're not Champion material. 4th or 5th maybe?

I just had a look on the official website at the squad and it has not been updated in a while. Chris Rushworth is still on it for instance. I'm a bit similar to UrsaMinor in not being sure who is around at the different parts of the season. Would be great if the website was ore active with that sort of information.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Chris Woakes is off for some Franchise stuff at some point so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't seem him all that much.

I think Sam Hain will be leading run scorer and I think Bamber may be the leading wicket taker. Nathan Gilchrist seems rated and has been with the Lions squad so he may be one to look out for.

I'm also looking forward to hearing the rave reviews of our openers before/during/after each game from one of the regular posters...

I think it's still very difficult to predict our first choice lineups. A few new (and old!) seam bowlers and no idea how involved Woaksy will be. My main concern is lack of an experienced spinner. I was hoping our second Overseas player will be that guy, even more hoping that he could be an opening bat (there are a few doubly skilled players out there) - and even more praying that he could offer a Captaincy option! Obviously, I can't really see there will be anyone with that CV, but perhaps 2 of the 3 requirements! I sincerely hope we are working hard on getting that extra Overseas guy in before 6 April.

Other than the lack of a spinner, batting remains my big concern - especially openers. And I do think Davies' triple responsibilities are (far) too much. IF (big if) one (or preferably two) of those jobs is moved elsewhere, I will be a happy man!
