A good opening day from the fact that only 2 of their batsmen scored any runs and 4 of their top 7 didn't get to double figures.

Surrey do this year in year out, they seem to 90-5 most games before the tail drag them up to 300+. Someone from no's 8-11 always puts their hand up. They never get rolled over.

Gonna be tough this morning, just gotta see where we are at lunch then hopefully press on in the afternoon when conditions will have improved.

Excellent session, good to see us cash in to an extent as i don't think Surrey's seamers will bowl that badly again. 25 boundaries!

A constant 4 per over from start to finish which was good considering we all sounded a bit nervous yesterday about the mornings batting but none of our batsmen ever really looked uncomfortable and to be honest, Surrey's bowling looked very ordinary. I have noticed over the last 4 seasons that they don't have many 5-wicket hauls from their bowlers, they appear to share all the wickets out whereby everyone takes a few here and there but today that wasn't the case. I thought everyone batted superbly. What was a surprise was keeping Lawrence on for so long with his very simple 'Milk-It-Around' bowling which just fed us runs whilst he never looked like doing much damage and even his wicket was just a giveaway. Hopefully, at some stage tomorrow we will have a big lead and time to have a go at them for a decent amount of time in their 2nd innings. A good day but bloody hell, that wind was strong and I am not talking about my own personal habits by the way.

Great day and congratulations to all the players.

I’m still not sure how we win this one but will have a think at tea tomorrow!

Very pleasing day and let's hope that now Dan has finally got his first championship hundred he can really kick on this season.

On comms they mentioned that we thought it would be best for batting on day 2 (i'm not sure why) but let's hope that's the case as it will need to be much trickier than today if we're to get another 10 Surrey wickets.

Debating whether to brave the weather tomorrow...

Pitch doesn't seem to have much pace in it, less live grass than yesterday, the odd one is misbehaving, think there's still a touch in it. Its abundantly easier after lunch against the older ball.

Excellent opening partnership (Is Highveld ok with this?!) scoring at a fair lick. Thought Fisher initially started well before he seemed to go searching. Surrey's seamers were generally poor actually thought the spinners posed a bigger (slightly bigger) threat and our guys played them very well, Albert looks to have a nice action and Lawrence seemed to hold length well initially but agreed he shouldn't have bowled as much as he did as his lack of guile got exposed.

Brilliant from batters, outstanding from Mousley, his celebration was a lovely moment, he played so well. Still there is a headless in him v spin but he looked so much more assured outside his off stump today. Swept so well, manipulating the field.

Great day, especially for Dan Mousley and his first ton! We can really kick on tomorrow and get a commanding lead. We can win this. The bowlers had a good rest today!

So pleased for Dan. You can tell that moment meant so much to him after throwing away a couple of chances at Warwickshire centuries before. Really excellent innings and brilliant partnership with Sam, bar a couple of running mishaps.

It just looked so routine out there today for us. No one ever seemed to be in trouble, Davies continuing his form from pre-season and Yates looking more like his typical disciplined yet stylish self. Let’s hope we get this one over the line and lay down a big marker for the season.

Great report from George Dobell in The Cricketer on yesterday’s play and Dan Mousley’s commitment to 4 day cricket and The Bears. Worth paying to get behind the paywall.

Should we aim to declare at Tea with a 200+ lead or bat on until last hour of the day? All assuming we stay in command,of course.

I would definitely declare at tea because of the weather but suspect I'm in a minority!
