New this year - the ability to substitute players suffering injury, illness or significant personal reasons.during the game.
It's already been used seven times in the first two Championship rounds. Having seen two players from opponents Yorkshire substituted because of food poisoning, Hampshire coach Russell Domingo has suggested (maybe not entirely seriously) that he could give a couple of players laxatives if they bowled badly in the first innings and then say they were feeling sick in the second innings and take them out of the game.
So maybe we missed a trick when our bowlers were under-performing against Sussex.

Whatever they settle on has to be made Australia proof so tightened up significantly.

At county level if it is to continue one way to stop all the tactical substitutions might be to impose points penalties on the use of substitutes. At the finish of the season or just before the very last game a panel could convene to review each instance to determine if it was a genuine injury or if it was made for tactical reasons and apply a penalty of 1 or 2 points per tactical substitution
