I've backed Davies previously, not as a captain admittedly as he was rubbish......now I can't for the life of me understand why Westwood keeps picking him to open - its now farcical.

It's getting to the point where we might as well put someone else in there just for the sake of change. If that person made 30 off 80 balls that would be ideal compared to watching Davies get nothing.

Somerset showing great commitment in the field here.

I’m far from being his greatest fan, but I can’t help feeling slightly sorry for Davies. His confidence must be in absolute tatters and when you’re in such terrible form something needs to change to allow some degree of form and confidence to return. Westwood is, in my opinion, guilty of burying his head in the sand and hoping things will magically get better but as Albert allegedly said, ‘insanity is doing the same thing over and again and expecting different results’.

I know this is the last CC game for a while, but for his own sake and that of the team, something really does need to change.

Enough is Enough surely , Davies getting out cheaply every match just put's pressure on the other Opener and the Team. If he has to play as Keeper then open with Malik and drop him to No. 7 otherwise drop him and play Kai Smith instead.

Can't disagree.

We've fought hard there against some very decent bowling and unusually good fielding. Our day, hopefully we back it up tomorrow.

Terrific day. Really important first session tomorrow to not allow them back into the game.

We would have settled for that at the beginning of the day, that's a really strong performance.

Great stuff, against good opposition. I like the idea of signing a quality spinner for these mid season games. Rocchiccioli did a job for us last year as well.

Hope it's not gunna be one of those muggy, overcast mornings down in Taunton with the ball nipping and swinging all over the shop...

Feel like Somerset use the sub rule quite a bit...

Yeah, I'm not having that. Bowling a high intensity six over spell last night and he's subbed out now? Right arm bowler for left arm to create footholes?

The first instance of the sub rule in one of our games and it already feels vastly unfair.

Craig Overton one of the most dislikable characters on the circuit. Not happening on the pitch so he's chirping Mousley.

Two balls from Ogborne and he's getting a talking to from the umpire for running on the pitch. Laughable.

A question, is an average of 16.84 acceptable for a specialist batsman?

if not, what would you consider to be acceptable?

Incredible weren't it, I absolutely hate this lot.

They've misread the pitch before the game, effed up with the bat, now trying to sort themselves mid game by subbing in some variety and with a view to getting Leach into the game more. Shocking.

Why did the mat go under the covers?

The coconut matting is absorbant, and wil stop the pitch "sweating" ubder the plastic sheeting.
