We’ve won the toss and elected to bat.

Same team.

Dan's great when he gets in that mode, can't bowl at him.

Tariq is an absolute rascal, haven't had this much fun watching a spinner since Imran Tahir, he's just as unplayable. One of the balls which passed the left handers edge I swear he beat him with every element you could think of, drift, flight, length, spin.

Webster on track to have the best season by a bears batsman in t20. Considering his career SR he's batting out of his skin. In t20 I like his offspin more than his seam bowing I'd like to see more of it

Malik is really working in that aggressive role up top.

Nice to see him give Marchant de Wanka some treatment. The bloke is the epitome of the obnoxious dick head fast bowler. Makes Overton look like a thoroughly decent chap, what a great big glowering hulking muscle Mary he is.

Ha. I thought the de Lange / Mousley exchange was good honest stuff TBH. dL was first to clap when Mouse responded.

Overall, good to watch. A rarity to see a whole game for me. Both the batting and bowling is complementary so hard to work out quite why they started out so poorly. It's a better balanced team than in the CC with a credible spinner and solid roles from all the bats right the way down.

The only two things I would say is it could do with another pace-off bowler and I don't think that's Mousley, at least right now. That leads me to other point is there are micro periods of slopiness I've see over the games. Mousley bowling that fourth was probably one moment, few things behind the stumps (we know this), few throws at the stumps wayward and Tariq coming out to bat without his kit. The more these are eliminated the better we are.

Fair enough, I thought it was applause of the sarcastic variety tbh

I also thought it was sarcastic applause and it was so obvious he was then going to aim one at Mousley's head, which Dan read and pumped into the Hollies.

They did have a warm exchange at the end of his spell though tbf

After watching that, I have to say, where has the late run come from and how the hell did we lose against this lot in that first game. Once the openers had gone, the rest of their batsmen didn't appear to even make the effort to go for it. Of course our 'Mystery Bowler' Mr Tariq was immense but no real effort was tried to score off him. Just goes to show I think, that we have missed the 3 spinners we had when we strangled sides after the 'Powerplay'.

Good result and encouraging team effort, Tariq is an absolute wizard, need to sign both him and Beau for next year and beyond! Slightly concerned about Kai’s wicket keeping, albeit an improvement on Friday when he looked really quite poor. Bit bewildered about the reluctance to bowl Yates, I don’t follow the logic of that.
As a slight aside, the absence of Craig Miles prompted me to take a look at the Gloucestershire website - seems he’s taking a break to focus on his mental health wellbeing. Sad to read this and hope he is ok, professional sport can be cruel and unforgiving and he always struck me as a wholehearted individual who gave of his best, do hope he bounces back.

Yeah there was definitely a bit of discord between Mousley and de Lange after the latter threw the ball at him, quite liked Mousley giving him a bit back actually. In fairness they did seem to hug it out at the end of the over. Also, how quick is de Lange? I know it's known that he's quick but it's easy to forget just how quick. Absolutely rapid.

Zen, he's still a work in progress but I admit I didn't think he think he had this in him, incredibly clean hitting.

Mousley, he goes into beast mode when he's like this, gets into position so quickly, if he can develop his power game through the off side a bit more he'll be in England squads (white ball).

Beau, please sign him up for next season already. Love his spin, should bowl it more, in all formats.

Ive made my feelings on Kai Smith's keeping very clear previously, i was a tiny little bit surprised Davies didnt get recalled for today...

Tariq, at it again, they just can't play him. Drift, dip, turn. Even fired in a quick one at one point. His action for the delivery that got Malan looked incredibly suspect, bit like one to get Patterson-White up at Trent Bridge. Interesting.

Don't underestimate this win, Gloucs are a very decent T20 side who's core players have been together a while. Always fancied it against them on a back to back though. Its a bit mad to think Gloucs finished a t20 in Bristol at 10pm last night then start another one at 3.30pm in Brum the next day.

Imagine if we'd had Mousley and Gleeson all comp?

At the moment Davies is unselectable, he has totally lost any batting form, and his consistant repeated failures puts pressure on the rest of the team.

Kai is still a young keeper, who will improve give the opportunity and being allowed to feel confident of his place in the team.

Allowing players to consistantly fail without consequence is not the way to build a winning culture in a team., sadly Warwickshire have done that too often with too many players over the years.

True, we all remember Chris Benjamin being selected as a keeper, not contributing anything with the bat whilst Burgess didn't even get a look in, how we miss him, what a great team man he was. We also did it with Miles, getting picked above others and getting milked most games and his lack of success going back to Gloucestershire, shows how wrong we were to keep picking him.

Love the way you've dragged this back to Davies with the bat again - who hasn't played in several games and is unlikely to play in the next. It's not really the issue.

You'll notice I categorise Kai's keeping above under 'occasional sloppiness' rather than anything more severe so agree he needs to carry on playing, probably all the One Day competition as well. In T20 the ball only really occasionally comes through to the keeper so the emphasis is generally low however there was on missed stumping when the game was alive and potentially a dropped catch as well. It didn't affect the result but it could have done if we were 20 runs lighter in the first innings.

I think he can probably overcome this and improve as a keeper (many have done so) but there must be a point at some point in the future where you he decides whether to totally ditch the gloves and focuses on becoming batsman only. I think he can probably do this too: just it's a decision to be made about what he spends his time focusing on. I do like watching him bat though and I'm keen for him to play and to bat. Either way I'm not stressing about it for white ball, it's a decent situation that we have replaced Davies place in the T20 batting order.

absolutely
we were spoiled for i think 3 years by having Maxwell and then Moeen as batsmen in the top 5 who would tend to bowl a full 4 overs of quality spin (and maybe Mousley too, and then the front line lads in Lintott and Briggs).

I still miss the middle-overs Stranglers we had when Tahir, Piolet and Botha played together for that one season

looking back its a measure of how brilliant Jeetan was, that he managed to carry us on his back as basically our only spinner with only occasional darts from Javid to back him up (and OHD bowling slower bouncers in the middle overs)

I'd love to have seen Taz much more this year but, picking him would mean him, Gleeson and Tariq as non-batters and the number 11s start at number 9, and either (a) only one place for the seaming all-rounder for Woakes/JT or (b) play both of the above but drop Kai Smith into top 6 and at whose expense?

the obvious answer is staring us all in the face of course as I and andy have said it's Webster bowling spin as it means not messing round with the lineup at all

I am a big fan of The Stranglers but don't remember Tahir, Piolet and Botha being part of the set-up, It was Cornwell, Burnel, Black and Greenfield. Maybe you saw a tribute band.
