Excellent performances from players who will have a significant role in the ODC. I’d consider us among the favourites with Sam Hain currently looking to be available. When Vansh Jani gets going he’s so destructive, it’ll be interesting to see how he’s used this year after playing as a finisher last season.

Yates Barnard Shaikh Hain Davies Jani Smith Lintott Bamber Ali Hannon-Dalby? Feels rough to leave Shaikh out as this is the competition in which he needs exposure to help justify his position but do feel he’s the more likely drop for another bowler.

with runs (again!) for Arjun Nahal, I’m interested to see if he may get a run out or two this campaign. He and Omaris Khan seem to have impressed enough to feature regularly in these games. Some talk of Charlie Taylor featuring if fit too.

Barnard is playing in the Hundred so there's an opening at the top of the order but also he's a frontline bowler in this comp so would probably have to replace him with someone like Gilchrist

Obviously, Lintott is with Kent now and Barnard is in the Hundread, but I agree, that's the basis of a decent 50 over team. If Davies is in, it will principally be as a Keeper, though they might decide to go with another bowler - perhaps Simmons. In place of Barnard & Lintott, I expect to see Garton (only as a batsman) & Gilchrist (though Barker would be there, IF he's fit), Yates & Vansh will be backup spinners.

There is one more 2nds 50 over Friendly before the start of the MBC - against Notts (away) on Thursday; the make up of that team (and the performances in the match), could be significant in selection for the MBC, at least to begin with. I really hope Keith B will be fit for a large part of it.

My take on this game was it was possibles rather than probables for ODC, the team last week was in my mind the key audition for the probables. What is worth pointing out that a few weeks ago we eulogised Yorkshire for having academy products, they had an arguably stronger team and we still won by a load. Again we already know, but it seemed we did rely on the experienced bowlers in the field, but some good contributions with the bat.

Lintott was only on loan for the T20s IIRC and posted a farewell after the group stage finished. To be fair I had completely missed Barnard getting a hundred gig!

Thanks for the info about Jake L, I hadn't realised. Its really good news if he's back in the Bear's 'Den', even if it is only likely to be for the MBC. I think he can still do a job in all forms of cricket, but clearly Management disagree. I do look forward to seeing his wonderful action again for us, even if it might be the last chance. Who knows, perhaps some success for him in this competition, might make 'higher ups' have a rethink - and of course, a possible change of Head Coach at the end of another unsuccessful white ball season, might see Jake retained (I think if fair to say, Westie has never been a fan!).

Think he was offered something, just choosing to go elsewhere.

He has been coaching with the women’s side too. Saw him walkimg around the boundary edge to the dugout during the home game against Essex.
