Just announced he is to join Leics on loan for the rest of the season, before signing a 3 year contract with them from next season.

Probably the best option he has to have a chance of regular first team cricket, as based on his record with Warwicks he was unlikely to have secured a first team place.

Given his 2nd team batting form for the first half of this season, this is no big surprise, but he has significantly improved in the last few weeks and had some good scores. What we will miss more though, is his Captaincy. The 2nds won the T20 competition last week - and a big part of that, was down to his Captaincy skills.

I really wish him well and hope a fresh start with Leics, will reinvigorate his career and they will give him the backing to reproduce the form he had when chosen as England Under 19 Captain, only 18 months ago.

Feel as though it clicks with him eventually.

Was offered a contract extension by us apparently but turned it down, according to Matt Roller on Cricinfo.

From the BBC article

"He has so far scored 301 runs in eight first-class appearances, but the majority of his career has been spent playing 50-over List A matches - in which he has made almost 600 runs in 28 games."

The figures don't look good, and doon't really suggest he was worth a first team place.

Look deeper into those stats though (which you won't have), he's red ball appearances last season for Warwickshire were spent batting at no. 3 in April/May. He never had the chance to hide down at 7 like Zen or Vansh Jani (1 game) did.

Besides, he's not been released, management/coaching staff who work with him everyday considered him worthy of retention, he's just chose to leave. Will be interesting to see how he does. Only 20 years old.

I saw him at Cheltenham two years ago when he captained England Under-19 and scored a hundred. He looked very impressive then, though the one who really stood out was Rocky Flintoff who was only 16 at the time.

More like was offered less money with no likelihood of game time. It’s a common theme at Warwickshire in recent seasons

Wasn't aware, any recent examples of this?
