At least Hampshire didn't win and it wasn't decided with 2 batsmen and a 'Runner' all running at the same time or a side not being allowed to run a bye to the wicketkeeper. Somerset have been consistent in this competition for years and they do appear to get their game in good order, just quite strange how they are letting Dickson go.

a consistent feature of Somerset's knockout stage wins was their excellent middle over and death bowling. Both ourselves and Hants got off to flyers but got dragged back by the tight overs from Green and Goldsworthy, and Gregory is always a wicket threat with his changes of pace too. I'm not really sure what Goldsworthy does other than he must be clever, cos he's a tiny fella who won't get much bounce and doesn't appear to spin it that much.

I know that Somerset have a rich vein of young cricketers coming through, but still seems odd that they have let Green and Dickson go, both of whom have featured prominantly in their T20 success this year (...as we know only too well!).

It is possible that both were offered new contract terms, but decided to see if they could get better terms, and more opportunities elsewhere. There could also be personal reasons where they may want o be in a different part of the country to be closer to family, or their partner has career opportunities elsewhere.

They're releasing Dickson to make room for several promising homegrown batters they have coming through, he's also not part of their CC side either. Umeed has been released for similar reasons.

Green was offered a deal but is signing for Leicestershire where he has been on loan for a significant portion of the season. And last season I think? Not close to being a regular in Somerset's CC side, but maybe not as far away as he perhaps thought.

The Steelbacks were worthy winners.

The Northamptonshire bowling was superb right at the end and Luke Procter came back superbly in both games, just stuck to his task like the pro he is and in Willey they have a superb leader. I always felt sorry for him not being included in the 2019 England World Cup squad and he was absolutely devastated but when it was won, he was the first on social media to congratulate the whole team but it strangely overlooked and has been for ages. Remember that in that T20 World Cup where Stokes ballsed it up the last over, it was he who conceded just 5 runs in the penultimate over by bowling clever full lengths only to watch BS bowl length balls to hit for 6. Willey still has the hunger.

Yeah he's one of those who you dont realise how good he is til you watch him live and witness him in those pressure situations. Bowls a heavy ball too, looks quicker than the speed gun would suggest.
