If the focus is on developing players , why is Davies in the side and keeping wicket? Why is Lintott, a player who is going to be released in the side?

Smith needs to be given time with the gloves and both Wylie and Garlick who, potentially, have a future with the club should be included.

I do wish we looked like a more competitive outfit. I can’t help but feel that with wickets in the shed and 10 plus overs to come Somerset look far too comfortable. Desperately hope I’m wrong.

Our tail looks massive, I can remember when we had sides in 50 over games (B & H Final 2002) when 9, 10, and 11 were Smith, Giles and Piper. A long time ago....

Shame to see Taylor lose his way a bit in his final over he'd done well up until then.

Because if Lintott wasn’t playing we’d of taken 6 wickets less in the last two matches and things would look desperately bad. Taz is off form from last years high and looks a shadow of his former self. If Yates is out doing Taz, then Taz must be fearing for his future.

If Lintott keeps this up Westwood is going to look a bit more clueless. Where does Westwood go from here?

May I ask why you are so invested in Jake Lintott?

Jani has absolutely stuffed Rob Yates (who was looking good) there, appalling.

And here we go, under pressure straight from the off.

It is just not good enough

2 down, Jani with a nothing shot.

Davies bingo now..........I reckon he will get 8 runs before chipping one to mid on.........he is doing his best, nearly went there.

At least the table will look familiar tonight with both Gloucs & Lancs well on their way to wins.

We play how many balls will he face before he's out.....😀
On a more serious note as we will have no chance of reaching the knock out phase Smith needs the gloves, Wylie, Jani, Ali & Taylor need to play all games (fitness permitting) & if available Simmons should also be given game time

A slow death at Taunton. I love this format but Westwood has killed any enjoyment this year with this non competitive team. I probably won't bother going to any of the matches. We will be lucky to win one.

Sometimes of these dismissals look bad in isolation.

I dont mean to pile on but Jani has dropped a catch, run out the captain and made 9 off 18 as opening bat chasing 338.

Big picture, the injuries have killed us before we even started. Booth, Barker, Gilchrist, Simmons, now Hain, even if just 3 of them were fit and available we probably wouldn't be in this situation. And thats what makes it frustrating, we could probably have had a dart at making the knockout phase.

Agree, make sure the young lads all get a decent amount of game time.

Westwood copping flak, not sure what much more he could reasonably do, why hasn't this James Thomas got him an overseas in for this comp especially factoring in the injuries?

What could he have done differently? The recruitment side of it is for James Thomas, thats his remit. Fucked off to the Hundred and left us in the shit.

I do get yer frustration by the way.

Jani has scored just 23 runs from his 3 innings, does that really justify his selection for the rest of the competition?
His contract expires at the end of the season, have his performances, in all forms of the gane, been good enough to be offered another contract?

Malik has 48 runs from his two games, again is that acceprtable for a specialist batsman, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.
Especially with his age, 29, you have to think it would be a risk offering him a new contract.
Does anyone here honestly see Jani or Malik becoming an established first team player? Iknow I don't think that either can, or will, consitantly score the runs needed to become an established first team player.

I think Malik's got a bit about him, id be keeping him.

Its a bit mad that Hamza never got the chances Malik and Jani got however. Its very 'Warwickshire'...

They can afford to bowl Botham & Vic Marks at their current age and will still win at a canter.

Somerset have several key injuries also but they seem to put out competitive teams.

11 years since we won a white ball competition and we are further away from a trophy now than I can remember.

Nobody loses their place, coaches just seem to go on & on. Nobody seems accountable at Edgbaston, all they are interested in is taking more money off the fans and corporate projects.

I will also not be going to a one day game this year and that will be the 2nd year running without a match at all. Lots seem to doing the same.
