It's bizarre, isn't it. I think one of the few things most Cricket fans agree on, is that Key is out of his depth, and should have been the first person out the door. Pension him off to Sky. Nobody is going to take any new regime seriously, whilst he's still in post.

Incredible that out of the three of them (Stokes, McCullum, Key) that Key is the only one to survive. He should have been the first to go.
Couldn't agree more. I presume his plan for last winter was put before an ECB committee around 12 months prior. He should have gone then, or at the very least had the errors of his ways explained. Others have questioned whether there is enough cricket experience at the top of the ECB.
According to George Dobell, Jonathan Trott is on the short-list for the vacant England head coach of the Test team role. He is spending two weeks with Ireland as they prepare for an ODI series against Afghanistan.

A few reports have said JT could be in the frame - but only as a second choice, with Andy Flower having first dibs. Mind you, many of those reports feel that Flower will turn the job down, he's got two very well paid positions already (with the IPL & the Hundread) and has probably already had enough c**p from the ECB, to last a lifetime!
Now that Andy Flower has backed out, Justin Langer is tipped for the job.
Seems the ECB are not fishing in a particularly well stocked pond. No surprise that Flower thinks he has better options. The personality clashes between Langer, Key and captain-to-be Brook could be explosive. Maybe IJLT is a viable option.
Langer's managerial style is completely incompatible with Key's laid back "ladz" approach, so if Langer is appointed, hopefully Keys will see where things are going and voluntarily remove himself from post beforehand.
