Presume Mousley comes in for Thompson and we have the same little niggle with balance again. Means Mouse and Yates have to make up an allocation. If ever there was a time for Garton to send down a few overs this would be it. Would anyone replace Malik or Jani with Mouse? Can't see it.

Smith has to be behind the stumps on Sunday, we are playing with a man down. Play another batsman or bowler but at some point surely what is best for the team has to be prioritised. Davies is not worth the shirt, as well as being a depressing character on the field. You cannot ignore the energy that Smith brings to the role of wicket keeper.

Completely gone off the boil these last 5 overs. Bowlers have gone away from what's been working and the fielding has dropped off entirely. Leicestershire favourites now.

Our fielding has been poor today.

They seem likeable chaps but the commentators are making me laugh. One minute Warwickshire needed a miracle then Kelly getting out was the fatal blow!

This is a great local derby though!

Difference looking back is that we just didn't bat out our overs. The way we handled those last two partnerships was pretty poor when we had to get Booth back on strike to maximise scoring opportunities. They had an international batter shepherding their chase, though, and that's a pretty big difference. Fielding felt a big difference between the two sides too.

That more or less seals our fait in one-day games (I hate the term 'White Ball' cricket) so now we will just have to win the CC.

Difficult to argue against any of this.

Good game of cricket. I felt we were 20-30 runs short which could have been achieved if Booth kept the strike. Davies another awful shot, he is a total liability and has to be dropped. Unfortunately, we kept losing wickets every time it looked like we were building momentum.
Their overseas was the difference in the end. The blow of losing Hain to injury was highlighted today.
Positives were Smith's mature performance, Taylor bowled well for someone so young, a promising all round display from Booth and OHD was unplayable.
I thought we would do well this year but we have fallen short again.

Watched precious little of it but from what I did see I think we lost, narrowly, to a well organised side that had set roles. That showed us up a little bit. We've been a bit unlucky this season with Hain getting injured, Garton not bowling and Davies in a two year slump - but an awful lot of it was predictable: we knew what players we were going to lose to the other comp yet we perpetually seem to not know the balance of the side or really have a plan. I think I said in an earlier thread I can take it if we don't really develop in one day if we show some decent progress in the CC. Which looks far more promising.
