Team:-
Garton
Dandy
Sinel Gunarathne (its been a couple of years since he last played for us, turning out last season for Surrey & Yorkshire 2nds and currently playing for Ombersley in the BL)
Smith (Captain & Keeper)
Gekis
Maddy
Taz Ali
Taylor
Simmons
Walallawita
Garlick
Sam Keeling-Wright (a right arm seam / opening bowler, who started with the Pears, but for the last couple of years has been playing for Northants 2nds, Herefordshire and currently, Staffordshire & Old Hill)

5 of the 'rising stars' in the Academy (ie Eddie Miller, Omaris Khan, Ayan Khan, Arjun Nahal & Jack Pidgeon), who may have been in the squad today, are due to play in the continuing ECB Super 4's Regional group matches in Loughborough this week (and so, our Under 18's team, playing today at Scarborough, is very depleted).

Lancs won the toss and chose to bat.

Interesting to see Keeling-Wright getting a go, been in the wickets lately and has generally been one of the better performing bowlers in the Birmingham League for a while now.

It would be fair to say that Charlie Taylor, just 16, is the standout player from the current academy squad. To be playing /u19 international cricket as a 16 year old is a very good indication of a very high level of talent and potential,

He had 2 wickets, at just 2 runs per over, in his first spell this morning.

Looks like a one-sided contest so far, and not in the Bears' favour.
