Somerset are all over Leicestershire and look very likely to win but Hampshire haven't lost a wicket for over 33 overs and are being a real pain to Notts. Let's hope they at least can put up a fight and maybe stop Notts if they get close to the first innings total.
Just noticed this, Notts need three wickets in 19 more overs to get their full haul of bowling BPs. But indeed, Soms look like they will flog Leicesters.

What a remarkable, bizarre win.
Incredible win and I still come away thinking the biggest gain there is the two days rest in this congested schedule.

Great win. Twice out for less than 70 a time yet we almost managed 400. One of the most comprehensive victories in a very long time. Agreed Kai should be behind the stumps for the rest of the season and bat a bit higher up the order too.

7 is perfect for him at the moment. Im willing to look away from his substandard glovework if we can bat as well as he has done these past 2 games.
Crikey! I left Cardiff just two and a half hours ago at the change of innings and now it's all over. Shocking by Glamorgan who had looked like they were up for a bit of a fight in the field. Never mind, that's a statement win.
It feels a bit like the Covid year when there wasn't a dominant County and any one of a handful of teams could have been champions. We did it then: who's to say we can't do it again?

Yeah the flipside to him batting 7 is he's against an older ball and more tired bowlers. That's not taking anything away from the fact he's been a bit of a revelation.
Earlier in the season I said it would be nice if some of the tight victories could be more comprehensive. Well that's two very comprehensive wins in a row and we're benefiting by getting extra rest days.
This thread will presumably turn into Somerset and Notts watch for the next two days.
More catches and stumpings per game than the alternative, as well as more runs.
The other noticwable thing is that the whole team atmosphere is lighter and more positive while Kai is keeping wicket.
There is no way selecting a "specialist" batsman who average less than 14 in the championship and under 4 in the ODC is a viable long term solution

He’s not a specialist batsman, he’s a wicket keeper, and the best gloveman we have on the books.
I’d be interested to know how you quantify the “lighter” team atmosphere.
The choice of wicketkeeper is a balance between how many runs a poor keeper gives away through missed chances against how many more he scores himself. A poor keeper may cost a wicket a game and if that happens to be one of the opposition's top players then the keeper needs to score a lot of extra runs to make up for it.
At present, Davies isn't really scoring anything so Smith has a free ride. Ideally, we'd get Davies' head sorted and give Smith some technical coaching so that next year we had a choice of two viable keeper-batsmen rather than looking for the lesser of two evils.
And while we're on the subject, Ben Foakes should be England's Test keeper. End of.
