Besides I can look away from the white ball stuff as long as we're doing well and progressing in the County Championship, personally.

Same here Andy, as long as we can be competitive (Who am I kidding, winning) in the CC I am more than happy. I almost forgot about Dougie, of course 1994, 1995 and 2004. I was thinking that Woakes has more CC medals but they're level. Not sure who has then most actual winners medals, I know Neil Smith held the record with 8 and I am pretty confident he still holds that record. I was wondering, if anyone knows, how many game do you have to play in the CC to get a medal, I know in the old division 1 at football you had top have played 14 games (a third of the 42 they used to play) to qualify and I was also miffed that a few other squad members names' were not called out after the team went over to the 2026 Champions board to line up for photo's.

They were still presented with medals however as they must have had spare leftover, Surrey with their 30 man squads have been winning this of late

Anybody who played for us County Championship this season got their name read out. All contracted squad members get a medal.

Brilliant. I tend not to count these but was Woakes involved in either of the promotion winning seasons? - I assume he played in 2008 but perhaps not 2018? and did he get any Div 2 medals?

Chris Woakes has, by my reckoning:

3 x Championships 2012, 2021, 2026
2 x 2nd division champions 2008, 2018
2 x ODC 2010, 2016
1 x Blast 2014
1 x 1 day league 2009 (this might need checking, div 2?)

And a slew of runners up medals 2014 Championship and ODC, 2012 ODC, 2017 Blast off the top of my head.

In 2018 he played twice, Middlesex away and Leicestershire away.

Yes a few of us were at Old Trafford Woakes played in that P40 Div 2 title deciding game 1-19 off his 8 overs. We wandered into the pavilion at the end I think this was before they'd turned their square 90 degress

In the 2008 promotion I think he was our highest wicket taker. Him or Neil Carter I think.

Yes I acknowledged that one. When Jeets nearly single handedly pulled it out the fire and Ben Stokes inside edged his way to a march winning fifty. Honestly he was so lucky.

Absolutely - red ball is the original - like in Rugby 15 a side is always preferable to Sevens which in itself is a great format. I just wish there were more games in the 4 day format.

I'd love to go back to 2 divisions of 9 and 16 games. Great times. It was 'proper'.

16 games is miles better, with the sort of crappy weather we often have, it give players more time to get out in the middle and play. I know we now have a situation where the sunny days are going to be more prevalent, but batsmen especially, need to play a lot of innings to get into a groove, no one should complain because not many get to 1000+ runs. Bowlers have become weaker for lack of strength building by just bowling plenty of overs. No one is asking for them to flog themselves but 300-400 overs in the CC is nothing.

Yes, maybe the asterisk should have next to it, 'The same rules applied to every side and we all knew the rules before the competition started'. It wasn't our fault that Nottinghamshire blew winning positions in both games against us and would have been champions had they have taken those opportunities - Tough shit.
