I know exactly what you mean, a superb day to be a supporter of the 2021 county champions. If there is anyone there at Lords today who could pick me up a scorecard at any point, I would be most grateful, would obviously compensate you and tell my Mum how good a person you are.

Fairly incredible this, really. To win the County Championship and then to utterly decimate your closest rivals in such a manner (result not guaranteed I know) is quite astounding.

Just looked at the 'Met Office' site and it doesn't look too bad for the next 3 days. Would be terrible to dominate and not get a win but we should have runs galore to play with.
I think you may be right but I would say Lamb is a very good squad player to have around who can contribute across all the formats when required.

With the signings of Davies and Benjamin (and only the release of Pollock), I always expected we wouldn't be looking at ANY more batsmen (Overseas or otherwise). I think our Overseas player next season will be a Seam bowler - probably a Left Armer. We have desperately needed a good replacement for Barker, for ages. And it definitely won't be Holder!
Bob Willis's Widow has been talking about the future of the Trophy. She thought last seasons formula was ideal, as it led to the County Championship title. This season's has had less meaning - though, if it doesn't carry on, she'd be happy it the Trophy resided (for ever!) at Bob's old County!
The ECB are looking at alternative formats for it, including a sort of pre season 'Community Shield' - Red ball Champions v White ball (RLC I guess - even they wouldn't suggest T20, would they?!). I would have thought a much better solution, is the County Champions versus MCC fixture, which traditionally opens the season?
I wonder where the MCC v Champion County match will be next year? And when we'll find out...

Only up to a point - they did try to sign Phil Salt.

Saw it mentioned on twitter that the Bob Willis Trophy should become a mini-tournament with small groups and a final during the hundred. Three-day matches first class cricket with no baring on the Championship. Would mean YET ANOTHER competition but would provide first class cricket at the height of summer which Root has called for. Questionable how competitive it would be however and where would that leave the 50 over competiton? All played in April with semis and a final late May?

I think that’s what it insinuates though. They wanted a top order red ball player, and white ball opener. Salt was the first choice. The story goes that Davies is leaving because Lancashire signed Salt.
I’d have rather had Salt if I’m honest. Before this match I always thought of him as a better white ball player, who will probably score as well as Davies in red ball. But having seen him this September, Davies has looked abject. We have to hope Robinson can work his magic, get his confidence up. Because on form alone, he wouldn’t get in this side currently.
