Norwell is first seam bowling reserve in the England Test team for the West Indies. With Robinson's injury, Mahmood is now in the 12 man squad for the First Test, but our Liam is on standby, in case of other injuries on the Tour.

With Mark Wood's injury, a debut for Liam Norwell is maybe creeping closer.

Unfortunately I think they'll make do with the bowlers that are already in the Caribbean but I reckon Norwell would do well in these conditions.

What's the news on Norwell and any return date? Another injury hit season so far. When fit, he makes a big difference to the Bears bowling attack.

With an 11 day break until we play Surrey is Liam likely to be fit by then? If fit, he will add even more potency to the seam attack.

This in today's Guardian (Ali Martin)
He looked absolutely cherry ripe when I saw him bowl in pre-season but a random slip in wet conditions jarred his back and a disc is now impinging on a nerve. As such, he’s due to have an injection next week and see how it pulls up. Some days he feels good to go, others less so.

Not in squad for Notts. Anyone seen any comment from Robinson about the situation?

I’m pretty sure I saw something on one of the socials, that he was aiming to return for these 2 matches.
How long is he contracted for? Let’s be honest at this stage, is it time to just cut ties? Thanks for the memories, and he’s outstanding bowler on his day, but apart from one season, his day is about twice a year. Just can’t seem to play more than 2 or 3 matches a season.

Not good news of Norwell:
Robinson says:
“Liam’s had a setback and he’s still probably some weeks away. We’ve got to keep being patient with him because he’s got a bulging disc in his back. These things aren’t straightforward but we’re hoping at some stage he’ll return this season when we need him the most.”

Hoping he'll return 'at some stage' doesn't sound good at all; very worrying news for him and us. Let's hope it's not as bad as it sounds, and hope too that management move quickly to find a quality overseas bowler to replace Hassan Ali, otherwise our bowling resources are going to be very stretched.

I doubt we will see Norwell this season. Its imperative we look for reinforcements to the pace attack or the season will drift away.

How much longer has he got on his contract. As good as he is when healthy. It’s irrelevant when it’s one match a season.
He’s had 1 fully fit season, and I suspect much of that was to do with Pop Welch.

Any update on Norwell's fitness? I think it was suggested that he might be fit in September for the resumption of the County Championship matches? If so, good news! However, it's worrying that he hasn't bowled a single ball this season. So disappointing after last year's heroics in keeping us in Division 1.
