Interesting team out today:-
Amir Khan
Isaac Mohammed
Chris Benjamin (Keeper)
Jakob Bhula
Danyal Khan
Kai Smith
George Maddy
Jake Lintott (Captain)
Henry Brookes
Che Simmons
Sam Atkinson
Yadvinder Singh (Bowling)

Possibly one indication of a new Summer contract (depending on Overseas status / visa permits) - Wellington (NZ) batsman Jakob Bhula - who's done really well since he came in. Nikhil Gorantla has also done well in a couple of 2nds game recently, I thought he might be worth another look, but he's not playing today.

Moseley's Yadvinder Singh might also get a Development contract.

No Johal or Garrett (again) says to me that they'll be on their way soon.

Bhula has got a ton (NO) today. Depending on the Overseas / work permit requirements, I think we'd be mad not to consider him for some sort of contract next season.

He's made a ton against the friendliest of friendly bowling today.

... that's putting it mildly - I had a look at some of the video highlights and there were a huge number of pies being chucked, presumably to set up a run chase. I recon even I could have scored a few runs against that attack!

True (I did see the videos after I posted that), but putting aside that one performance, he has batted really well in his 2 previous Seconds games. Averaging 70.00 in 3 innings, 140 runs with 2 x 50's (and 1 Not Out). If he'd had more opportunities he might have done even better. I don't know about his Overseas status though, as far as I can tell, he's a Kiwi through and through.

The problem is, we’ve seen other players hired off the back of 1 or 2 good performances in the seconds, or who have done well in second team cricket and not made the leap. Just look at Chris Benjamin, Johal, Ethan Brookes.
Also the time of year means the bowling attacks in second XI cricket are very light. Clubs dealing with injuries after a long season, 2 squads worth of England call ups, retirements, plus you’ll have older players already hanging it up for the season and being told they don’t need to play.

I wouldn't even be considering him. This lad averages 10 from 21 FC innings in NZ. One 50+ score.

Yes, I checked him out and spotted those stats. As BR says, he also looks to be a 'thoroughgoing' Kiwi, so unless he has UK connections; status, visa and permit issues might preclude a contract anyway.
