He has left:

He obviously hasn't found a new county.
It's sad that two young seam bowling prospects in Manraj and George Garrett have both failed to make the grade. Without knowing the inside stories, it's difficult to know if the coaching staff could have done more to help them.

Hard to know for sure, but considering where he was 2 years ago, you’ve got to think there’s been some significant issue that’s caused his performances to drop off.

Shame really, but once again a club failure to bring through a promising young seamer. You just hope the likes of Che Simmons can come through and buck that trend.

Yep, I've said a couple of times now our record with bringing through seamers from academy level to 1st team level performers is extremely poor and has been for a long time. We'll often line up with a seam bowling attack made up entirely of recruits from other counties (and according to some we don't recruit from other counties anywhere near enough!), Manny and Garrett both showed demonstrable promise in their first seasons around the 1st XI, several decent performances. Manny looked like he had an action that could get the ball reversing. A good skill. Yes, I'd be interested to know where it all went wrong...good first class debut at Lords after a decent ODC campaign and never seen again, that can't be right.

The coaches work with the players everyday, so they not only see their on field performances, but their ability to learn, their efforts and their general attitudes and behavious.

Johal and Garrett had done nothing to put them near a first team place over the last two seasons, under different bowling coaches, so it was unlikely to change going forwards.

Then let us never question the continued selection of Alex Davies ever again as the coaches work with him everyday and see his efforts, general attitude and behaviours.

Sadly some players seem to be given special treatment. which has lead to the problems with opening batsmen and the negative effects of that on the rest of the team.

On those 2 points.
1) as much as coaches do know about players attitudes, abilities etc. if this was 1 young seamer I’d understand. But it’s 2 this year. And countless over the last 10 who haven’t been brought through from academy to first team regular. They can’t all have poor attitudes and don’t put in the effort.

2) whilst a players attitude and effort and all those things are part of the judgement for sure. At the end of the day, players need to be judged on their performances on the pitch. That’s what counts the most. And being a great bloke and trying your hardest is irrelevant if you’re not taking wickets, or end up with a top 3 as robust as wet toilet paper.
