Better weather forecast.

Kookaburra or Dukes?

Durham will be a good test for us, some good players, particularly the bowlers Boland, Potts, Carse etc

Yes I have them second favourites for the title if Surrey slip up and assuming Essex get whacked some hefty points deductions for one reason or another

So we'll probably go and give them a right hammering

Kookaburra again for this round and another 2 rounds later in the season.

I hope we play well but the 13 man squad looks pretty poor!

We don't seem to be ready this season!

I see Craig Miles has been recalled from his loan to Glammy.

We released 3 homegrown bowlers during the past close season and replaced them with T20 specialists. Now we're here.

Yep, Benjamin and Simmons to miss out.

With Hassan flying in at the weekend, the new Overseas bowler will be competing with him for the Hampshire game. It will be interesting who is left out.

That is a very weak looking squad, how have got into this position?

I know I sound like a broken record but this really does come down to planning and the club putting together a balanced squad.

We’ve spent the last 2-3 years concentrating on T20 recruitment.
Barnard only really planned successful red ball recruit? Got lucky with Rushworth forcing his way out of Durham. It was a late winter signing so I can’t imagine they were going to recruit a bowler otherwise.
Seem determined to rely on Norwell despite only ever having 1 fully fit season for us.
And as tricky as overseas signings have become, use 2 that are planned out and proven quality. Not a project squad player from a trial. We’ve gone backwards as other clubs go past purely down to recruitment. And we know there’s money, they just don’t spend it right.

Fair play to them both.

To think we lost the toss!! Great start to Davies' reign as captain.

Cracking partnership today. Durham have a bit more pace than most attacks and with it coming onto the ball nicely along with a short boundary, Davies looks like he is in his element.

It does have to be said that there are not many wickets anywhere today (2 for Garrett).

Record opening partnership against Durham, surpassing 206 in 1997 by Knight and Waugh.

Terrific stuff! Now keep it going. This is four day cricket, make sure the boots are well and truly filled.
