Somerset have announced that they will be hosting the Bears for a three day fixture beginning on April 1st and that they will be taking it seriously. Could be some good days out there.

Weather permitting, I never say no to a visit to Taunton. No doubt Somerset will be looking for early revenge for that end-of-season defeat.

I don't suppose too many were planning to go to Canterbury next week for the match against Kent but the Kent website says:
"Due to important development work around the ground, including the restoration of the Frank Woolley Stand and replacement of seating in the Colin Cowdrey Stand, this match will take place without any spectators permitted."

Have I missed news of the champion county match against the MCC, or is it not happening?

Over 160 overs bowled and just five wickets fell in two days. Hard work for the bowlers.

I think now we’re starting to get an idea of what the team will look like for the first match.

Sibley
Yates
Rhodes
Hain
Lamb
Mousley
Burgess
Briggs
Miles
Norwell (if fit)
OHD

Then Davies in to open or 3, probably in place of Lamb or Mousley for the second match.

According to the link, the match referee is Will Smith.
Let's hope none of the players mentions his wife.

Pre-season is over. Obviously there’s only so much you can take from it, but I wonder what we’ve learned.

In my opinion, I think we’re going to see a lot more batsman friendly pitches as a result of comments made in the press. Secondly, I think Mousley has definitely jumped above Lamb in the batting pecking order, but once Davies is fit, I wonder if either makes the side.

What injury has Davies got?

He’s got a 2 match ban (1 suspended) for historic tweets.
So he misses the Surrey game, but you’d assume he comes straight in for the second match.
