Having checked out the Sep Kinneir story (yes, I am that sad!), it was Cheltenham and he was sent to Germany. His finger nails did turn blue and fall out and he lost all his hair.
But Robert Brooke did say that the story came from Frank Foster so could well have been a total fiction because, to put it mildly, he wasn't noted for truthfulness.
Anyway, let's hope for two full days of cricket at Old Trafford and some good performances from the Bears, especially with the ball today.

A day for McAndrew to prove himself. So far in his Bears career, he's 0-140 off 35 overs.

165/0. Painful to watch. Yes, McAndrew needs to step up. I hope this overseas signing works, but I have my doubts. Why don't we sign a top player, especially after the non-success of the overseas signings last year? Surely the club has the resources.

If you are going to go to all the trouble of signing an overseas pro then sign someone who is of Test standard or what is the point. Just because someone comes from Australia, it does not mean they are going to be automatically be fantastic. There are plenty of Aussies who have been over here over the last 25 years and struggled. I hope this bloke doesn't become one of them.

It makes even less sense when we know we're going to be without Stone and / or Woakes for the majority of FC matches.

And we none of us doubted him for a minute!

A good fightback this afternoon. We could easily have been looking at a 100-200 run deficit

Yes, a good fight back and I'm glad to see McAndrew took 4 wickets - that should help his confidence.

It did look like a fight for survival tomorrow so those wickets at least mean we should not hopefully lose. At one time I thought they would get 450+so a good fightback.

Good to take some wickets and doubly good that Nathan McAndrew got 4. Funnily enough I don't feel limiting their lead changes the match situation, we still need to bat for a couple of sessions to draw the game. Bit like last year's game at Old Trafford.

As I said, Davies needs to move down the order. Another failure with just 10 runs. Put Yates back to partner Sibley!

It’s interesting how in a year of big team and individual totals, the top 3 has really struggled, until Sibley this match. Hain has got in a few times and given it away, so no big scores from the top 4 until Sibley’s century in the 1st innings.
The first 2 matches the middle order bailed them out, and then couldn’t in the third.

Biggest improvement though will be getting Woakes and Norwell back next match. As every other England seamer has played for their county now apart from him, and Norwell made a big difference in that Essex match.

Here we go…..
Parkinson on a day 4 pitch is getting big turn. Rhodes and Burgess both got big turners. Need to really dig in now.

A collapse. Hopefully we can see this out after tea. Rhodes is in such poor form.

Big plusses are Dom getting back into good form and McAndrew making an impact. Minus is Alex Davies; he's not a FC opener. I can see why they tried him but it's not working.
