What a session, is this where our CC season is reginited?

Have to say that 6th wicket decision looked poor. At the very least hit him outside the line.

2 bonus points before lunch after Kent chose to bat. We've had worse morning sessions !! Excellent start.

Not sure about that. Seemed to square the batter up he's missed the ball and struck him perhaps umpires call on off stump. Hard to see from the video but might have just clipped the front pad before thudding into the back pad at which point it looks like it's hitting outside the line but that fraction of a second is ommited from the frames in the video. I'd say it's close enough and defnitely not too high. Reasonable enough decision. Labuschagne got one 2 years ago off Darren Stevens down there everyone went mad about but again to me it looked close enough to be given. Batter has little to complain about other than he's just missed the ball and the pads have stopped it clipping off stump

why do we always have trouble with 9th and 10th wickets?

so frustrating

Grant Stewart has done this to a few sides down the years, he is dangerous.

Yeah he's an all rounder we've done very well overall on a good track.

Going to risk saying this now before the inevitable collapse, but I think it’s a much flatter pitch than they made it look. They chose to bat for a reason.
Thought we bowled well on it, got some bounce, a bit of movement in the air with the new ball, but nothing extravagant or that you’d expect to leave a team 70 odd for 7. I think they batted poorly. Gave away their wickets often.
The scoring shots they managed to play from the top order and Stewart, show it’s a decent pitch. You can trust the bounce, hit through the line and it comes on nicely.
If the openers keep going like this, after tea if we lose a wicket I’d be tempted to send in Maxwell or Burgess. See if we can be level or ahead by the end of the day, and minimise the effect of the forecast rain tomorrow.

We will take that as being a good day with power to add tomorrow. Kent are a poor side so we must take advantage.

Not sure we’ll get much play tomorrow if the forecast is right.
But in a great position. Time to get as many batting points as possible and only bat once.

Yep, they're one of if not the weakest side in the division, especially with a few players missing.

So we need to up the scoring rate when we do get to bat a) for bonus points but b) to move the game on faster given the weather state

The rain tomorrow looks like it is going to be fairly patchy and light, so hopefully we will be able to get a decent chunk of play in if we’re lucky.

Looks like the forecast has improved dramatically for the next couple of days.
Some interesting comments from OHD about the kookaburra ball, I’d completely forgotten we were using one. Suspect it’ll be a case of try and bat the entire day, give the bowlers some time with their feet up. Score as many as we can, not like we’re short of batting.

Barnard seems to be in a bit of a bad patch form wise (I’ve not been following so it may have been a good ball that got him). He started the T20’s alright but lost form quickly. Hopefully he can recover it soon, he does offer a nice balance to the side normally.

Good to see Maxwell making a contribution thus far and a super century by Yates.

Barnard played an awful little innings - lucky to get nought.
Anyone think Maxwell might find himself playing for Australia at Old Trafford as an off spinning all rounder?

That Maxwell bloke can score pretty quickly can't he.

I wonder if he'll be able to do it in the T20's...

Had to leave watching the game at lunch. Just got back and can't quite believe how the score advanced in the afternoon. Superb contribution by Yates Now to get an innings win tomorrow.

Yes we basically got 320 in 60 overs after Barnard was out. Proper Baz Ball style......

Another superb day. Let’s hope that this one doesn’t go the same way as the Notts game, though we’ve got a lot more time than we did then.
