Surrey assuming pitch is dead again. Resting a bowler and bowling first. Just hope we can apply scoreboard pressure. Lacking a spinner again if we need variety.

Given the heartening results it’s a shame if Edgbaston is hampering us.

It will do Mousley good to go away and score some runs in the seconds.
Surrey Millionaires selection policy js erratic. In comes Jason Roy for his first red ball game in five years, and Dan Worrall is omitted.
Sounds like a short boundary on the Hollies side and a decent pitch.

Totally agree.

Another really good opening partnership this morning, so far this season Yates seems to be playing the anchor role allowing Davies and the other batsmen to play their shots. It's working really well so far.

Looking forward to see Latham bat this afternoon, hopefully he'll still be there at tea.

Agree, good start, annoying Davies got out (anyone see it? bowled against a part-time spinner?) but if that's the only loss so be it. A dead pitch and seven batsmen each might suit us for a draw actually. Surrey are a better team than us and we have picked up enough wins outside this game.

I'm loving watching Latham bat. He is some signing. Disappointing that Hain got out before tea, but still in good shape overall.

I think a high scoring draw is inevitable.

Latham is a class act. Shame both Yates and Hain got out to leg-side swipes but we're still in a god position.

Webster in at 5 maybe?

100 for Latham but Webster out. Let's hope we can keep this "god" position!

A good day and we need to put up a good fight against these, having been on the end of some atrocious umpiring whilst playing them at The Oval during the last 2 seasons. Strange decision to bowl first, in fact completely weird, maybe they thought 2 undercooked batsmen (Latham, Hain) plus a young guy playing his 2nd game, were reasons that they thought they could work through the batting. If you consider that yet again we got out to a 2nd string bowler like Lawrence and Yates and Hain also gave it away, we might only be 1 or 2 down. Their bowling looks pedestrian without Roach and Worrall so it was good that we took advantage. Come on Bears, 550 minimum. Latham looks good, a proper innings, playing himself in, not panicking if he didn't score and getting better every hour he batted. Could we actually have chosen a worthy overseas player.

Latham giving everyone a lesson, when you get in on these sort of pitches you go big, you be greedy.

This is it..t20 mindset comes in and players get complacent. It's great to have a pro like Latham to guide the younger players

Whilst we are in a very strong position so far, we don't want to take up too many of the remaining 66 overs in the day.

I reckon we'll bat for another 10 overs and get as near as 550 as we can.

Great innings from Latham, and from Barnard too.

Troughton at lunch time was interesting and entertaining although Qs from the audience weren’t allowed denying me to ask him how he felt about having the play as Birmingham Bears.

He was alleging Warks have doctored the pitch to ensure a high scoring draw because of surreys bowling attack.

Really hope we can bring them down a peg or two!

We wouldn't be the first to do that this season... Might be a tactic every team uses when at home against them

Love how the London media including Churchy on Comms are desperate to portray Edgbaston as having doctored a pitch to neuter their attack. Lol. Edgbaston is just like this (look up not down, pitch just gets better and better on days 2+3) and Surrey have started their season poorly by comparison to their last three seasons

Interesting to note that the Surrey co-commentator chirping on about the pitch being potentially chosen to stop Surrey getting wickets and constantly banging on about how talented Surrey are.

You then put the BBC website on, go to the cricket page and we hardly get a mention.

Of course if we end up with an unlikely win, it will be solely down to the fact that Surrey have had call ups & injuries without any mention of 4 or 5 players that we have missing.

They could have chosen to bat! So entitled, hope someone knocks them off their perch this season.

I believe Jacob Bethell may be coming home early with the IPL suspended. Can't see how he would get in the team at present!
