Cracker from OHD
Cracker from OHD
The Davies/Kai/keeping situation is a problem, Davies is obviously a walking wicket right now but Kai's keeping is miles off. Does Davies drop down to 7?!
I definitely think he needs to be taken away from the new ball but I also suspect his ego would violently object to his being dropped down the order.
Surely even with his ego he can accept that he's struggling big time right now and that dropping down the order is better than being dropped completely?

I think that we have to start concluding that we are just not good enough, I am sick of reading that we always seem to get the rough end of the stick on the toss or that the pitch has flattened whenever we bowl. We don't & it hasn't.
Bamber just taking Brookes wicket as I type but he has been very expensive this morning & Brook has chucked that wicket away, just like we did on several occasions.
This makes no sense after only 4 games and the current game could still very much go either way.
Are we really having a shocker this season up to today? I don't think we are?
Oh god Yates thats a screamer.
Catch of the season

Agree, not perfect, still issues (need a #3, finishing teams off) but definite signs of progress
It was behind him, honestly had he dropped it id have still applauded him for saving runs, outrageous catch.
Massive innings for Davies coming up here, needs a few...
All to play for.

This has been said for the last few seasons and we have failed to put in any kind of challenge. Our top under crumbles under pressure and it always seems to be on Haine, Barnard & the tails to give us a total. OHD has dug us out of the brown stuff once again this morning after being sent off to Worcester on loan. We struggle to take 20 wickets consistently despite having more seam bowlers than I can ever remember.
You can absolutely see why Yorkshire have struggled over the last couple of seasons the way that they have chucked at least 4 of their wickets away & despite bowling us out for next to nothing, they have a very average journeymen attack. Yes we are still in this game but you have to look at the standard of the opposition as well.

Not having any indication that we are. Winning draws against the top two from last season, a win against Essex and a close loss to Sussex. We're playing a lot of good cricket and, as usual, agenda is crowding people's views of the season. OHD was miles off it last season and we're now reaping the reward of good management this season, allowing him to play cricket and remain in rhythm on loan.
We're in a very good spot, playing in a difficult match on a result wicket against a decent quality seam attack bowling well. We've just bowled them out for the same as what we made. Context is so important when discussing players.
The stuff on Malik's average being less than that of Smith's is a one-sided argument. He's played on two result wickets against Essex and in this match. I'd argue he's in the side as he has more stickability than Smith who tends to be a freer, more languidly styled late innings scorer. Smith has played on flatter pitches. The decision making is sound, the fact its not bearing result isn't hugely surprising when taking into account the context.
Just pulled into the services on my way to Lancashire and v pleased to see the score!

Finally a balanced and sensible post, fair play.
