10 overs remaining!

I’m hopeful that that’s it for the rain, now it’s all about how quickly they can get it dry and if the light holds. Lord’s does drain quickly at least.

Unfortunately rain is not too far away…

Craig Miles that was horrible.

Admittedly I haven’t seen much of this game but from what I have seen it seems to be more movement in the air with a little bit of nip off the pitch? This is one reason why the championship shouldn’t be confined to the start and end of the season.

Happy birthday Terry!

I think a lot depends on how we do in these last three games. If we can win one or two and get ourselves in the top three, I’d say that’s a decent improvement on last season. However if we don’t win any or struggle in them then that’s more of a concern given that all three opponents are currently below us in the table.

Just checked my emails - Rhodes signed a new contract in January this year to take him until the end of 2024, so I assume this was a one year extension.

If I remember correctly some of our other players have also signed one year extensions this season? Can’t remember who though

Great news. Puts that particular rumour to bed.

I’m not sure rumours about the dressing room or individual personalities are particularly helpful, especially as I have never seen any evidence provided for these. If anyone has a source for them, please do share.

I think we just need to stop losing the toss to be honest.

According to the playing regulations “one reserve day is allocated to the playoffs, semi-finals and final”. The minimum length of the second innings also increases to 20 overs for the knockout games.

Could someone enlighten me as to what Country Membership is/was?

Some brainless cricket here. We need less than a run a ball so why are we trying to hit every ball out of the ground?

I know our stream isn’t the best around but it’s streets ahead of this one. Can barely see the ball from one end.

Of course, if yesterday's game had been scheduled for an outground, there would have been no play and the club would only have a single point for an ababndoned game, putting qualifycation for the play off stage at risk.

Not necessarily by any means - the showers that went through that delayed the start were very localised and so almost certainly wouldn’t have impacted an outground.

A good win, I didn’t think we had enough either but comfortable in the end! I think that pretty much guarantees us top spot in the group, barring a big NRR swing?

which will need a kitchen, cooks and waiting staff, as well as the additional stewarding costs

We already have all of those staff at Edgbaston on a match day though, surely they could work from an outground for one day a season (this could even be written into whatever contract they already have with the club whenever it is next renewed). I can’t imagine we’d need as many staff at an outground as at Edgbaston anyway

Yeah I remember watching Warwickshire play a championship match at Guildford some years ago and I don’t remember the facilities being anything spectacular, just a couple of very small temporary stands and a few marquees. I also saw us play Durham at South Northumberland a few years back and there you paid a deposit for a camping-style chair, with the option of just keeping the chair if you didn’t want the deposit back. I don’t see how it would cost anything like in the region of £100k to do.
