If the focus is on developing players , why is Davies in the side and keeping wicket? Why is Lintott, a player who is going to be released in the side?

Smith needs to be given time with the gloves and both Wylie and Garlick who, potentially, have a future with the club should be included.

Because if Lintott wasn’t playing we’d of taken 6 wickets less in the last two matches and things would look desperately bad. Taz is off form from last years high and looks a shadow of his former self. If Yates is out doing Taz, then Taz must be fearing for his future.

If Lintott keeps this up Westwood is going to look a bit more clueless. Where does Westwood go from here?

With a clutch of spinners let’s hope this out ground is dry and dusty which is quite possible. Also by the time we bowl it may be well used.

Well well well, hain out, zen in and shock Jake in as well! Interesting!

Kent signed him just for the blast not on a season long loan. I think simple fact is probably the Bears wanted him to step back from cricket and coach the women, and he was, I think determined he had more cricket in him. We shall see

Was offered a contract extension by us apparently but turned it down, according to Matt Roller on Cricinfo.

More like was offered less money with no likelihood of game time. It’s a common theme at Warwickshire in recent seasons

Don’t think he was

Took a 5 fer today, 40 odd yesterday. Good game for him tbh.

Article says 8 players are going to leave Sussex, though it's a bit vague as to who they are:

Because Sussex have to cut their wage bill by about 400k

And a tidy partnership at the end which nearly won it. A great last over!

Davies should be replaced by Malik

Think Lintott suffered from a captain who didn’t know what to do with him (Davies). He’d give him one over take him off but spinners need a rhythm. Briggs always got at least three, Lintott only one. At Kent, they clearly have confidence in him and his 2-25 against Middlesex was up against Rossington whacking it about and his figures (which were economical) against Sussex was against the new king Cole’s. If the captain and management back you you will have the confidence to succeed. Davies and Barney to an extent didn’t have faith and Westwood definitely didn’t. Still the Bears loss is very much Kent and Billings gain.

The bears have no experience to lead from the front left, so they now rely on Taz and Tariq. Taz may do well off and on but he’s not yet experienced enough to be consistent and Tariq, well we will see. Think his bowling will be worked out quickly if he isn’t called out before then.

No great surprise there.

Another highlight was the unbeaten 50 to defeat his home county at Taunton last year in a big run chase.

Can’t see him playing for Warwickshire again, apart from anything else Westwood would appear to be non spin friendly, hence the reason for this. Taz unfortunately will be a bit part this year also. Think Warwickshire wanted him to retire and coach the women but he clearly thinks he has more professional cricket to give.

Reckon Lintott was in squad last week ahead of Taz, so no reason why he shouldn’t be this week and so if a spinner plays it’ll be more than likely him. Here to be proved wrong. We definitely missed variety in that second innings and maybe in the first a bit. Depends a bit on the forecast I suppose.

So Lintott bats and wins the game at Taunton, then gets dropped, booth does the same at Durham and then he gets dropped. Seems like you do well and get dropped, play poorly as some of the batters have at times and you keep getting picked. Odd

Add Lintott and that makes a full xi

Hamza played an appalling shot

And interestingly, he looked a bit out of sorts early in the blast, and wickets taken were all catches in the deep, after his spell captaining the seconds in red ball and getting some wickets, and runs, he seems to be bowling straighter and more attacking and most of the wickets are now bowled or lbw. Interesting

Couple more wickets and this game becomes winnable

Not a great start!! To say the least
