Hain not playing during August is becoming an annual conversation. I can't blame him doing it for the money but not playing much cricket in his peak years is such a shame.

Room for improvement though. Yates, Malik and Sheikh can all score big but they just need to get going and find form. Lintott could do with improving his economy but he is an important player when in rhythm. Booth continues to impress.

Davey and Green are both joining Leicestershire and Aldridge is likely to end up at Durham. All have been on loans with those counties.

Good call to bowl first skipper. OHD is sadly on the decline and is no longer a wicket taking threat. He does a good job keeping it tight and certainly has a big role to play for us in the One Day Cup.

The last bloke, Someone Ford, was totally useless. Anyone would be an improvement on the poor quality or non existent content served up over the past 2 or 3 years.

Still no Hain or Bethell in the squad. Jani has been added as cover I assume. Likely to be an unchanged team.

Looking about, the only first division counties who may be in the market for a quality keeper/batsman are Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire. Usually when it a choice between the Bears and the Outlaws they end up at Trent Bridge because they pay more.

Rumours that Ben Foakes is leaving Surrey. He would be ideal to fill the gap left by Burgess. Smith is our long term prospect but it's unfair to expect him to continue learning his trade in the spotlight.

The lack of communication from the club is pathetic. No updates on player availability or even a preview piece these days. The coverage is sparse.
I would like to know why we aren't selecting Simmons and investing in him rather than sticking Miles in there. One is potentially the future while the other is a 30 year old with his foot out of the door.
