Thank you for this, I enjoy the substack.
For a membership organisation, it's nice to see that we're minimising the risks of the new stand and hotel.
Couldn't agree more. I presume his plan for last winter was put before an ECB committee around 12 months prior. He should have gone then, or at the very least had the errors of his ways explained. Others have questioned whether there is enough cricket experience at the top of the ECB.
Thanks.
If this is the number of members with voting rights I worry for the future if only c.10% care enough about the CC to respond.
Great stuff, against good opposition. I like the idea of signing a quality spinner for these mid season games. Rocchiccioli did a job for us last year as well.
Thanks for the update. Good news indeed.
Does anyone know how many full club and white ball members there are? I couldn't see anything in the annual report.
Anyone know how the vote went at the AGM?
Lovely piece of 007 whimsy in the match report on Cricinfo. Apologies for not knowing how to link to it.
Great to have the kids in as well. Would be nice for them if they could see another couple of wickets before lunch.
Not there today. Obviously the wicket's flattened out as bit and our lads are on top form but have the bowlers been getting any movement off the pitch?
Catch of the season
Not great here today. Mousley's wicket was by far the worst. Take out the Surrey 100 ton and he's as good as averaging the same as Davies.
Assuming things don't measurably improve in this game or next, any suggestions for the top three for the second half of the season? Yates probably keeps his place. Malik to 3?
An all round good bloke.
A highlight for me was in a lost cause at Chelmsford a couple of years ago when he brightened up the day for the travelling fans with a brutal 50.
I hope he goes on to get a few 20/20 gigs.
Happy we put them in again given how difficult it's going to be taking 20 wickets. A couple of quick ones in the first hour and we're in with a real shout.
There's an option to vote by email as well so there's really no excuse for us not getting this done. I should be there tomorrow and will press a couple my pals to vote.
Not sure how we'll go after lunch. Batting looked quite easy this morning. Here's hoping the cloud stays for the rest of the day.
Nice to see the club addressing members' anger about how they handled last year's ECB proposals by including a Special Resolution in the AGM giving us a deciding say on future ECB proposals.
In spite of some niggling concerns, I'm planning to vote for it.
Excellent news.
A fantastic player. I was lucky enough to see his 167* against the Aussies.
Congratulations to everyone who campaigned for this.
Call me cynical but I think the real mover was branding in the 16.4/16.4, making sure the Birmingham Whotsit's alone bears the city's name. It's the first time I've ever had anything positive to say about the thing. I suspect it will be a while before it happens again.
More wickets than runs?
