The stream isn’t working and Pollock is already out.

I was intending to travel in to watch today, weather looks a bit pants though.

Nothing from the club about playing conditions from what I can see. BBC reporting a delay though.

Pollock is always capable of a big score, the problem being there isn’t the consistency to follow it up.

Always pleased when players, and the team, perform.

I attended tonight and it was quite an unusual feeling. Having no empathy for either team and watching without really caring who won was a tad unsettling.

As a match for the neutrals, of which I guess I was one, it was quite good fun to watch. Seeing Amir bowl consecutive no balls was quite funny but I was disappointed I didn’t get to see Tahir and his wicket celebrations.

I was very pleased to see Benjamin score and play a decisive part, also to hear some locals calling out ‘you bears’. I dont suppose the majority of those there would have noticed but the Warwickshire flag was flying throughout which was pleasing.

Overall the ECB and the broadcasters will have been pleased with tonight.

I however don’t think I saw anything I wouldn’t have seen in a T20 blast match, the ‘big names’ did not stand out as being on another level in my view. The music and fanfare is not my cup of tea, but we have it in T20 so it’s not really a big deal and I just accept it for what it is.

Tonight did nothing to dissuade me from thinking this competition is totally unnecessary and that a few tweaks to the T20 Blast could have saved quite a few million pounds and not alienated the existing fan base .

Properly advertised, supported by the ECB with England contracted players made available (it was a shame not to see Chris Woakes again who I believe is injured) and big name oversees players featured the ECB had a ready made competition ripe for development. But that’s an argument which has been made many times and is now obsolete.

Sorry for the long post.

It’s a bit harsh on Derbyshire, they did manage to field a squad yesterday.

This is the trouble that counties are going to face, especially the smaller ones. Small squads faced with injuries with key players poached by the 16.4, together with self isolation due to COViD I’m surprised more counties haven’t been forced to forfeit.

Good point, I had forgotten about the County 11 v India.

Is there anywhere online with details of all our injuries? I’m not sure if I’ve missed an official club release along the way.

Glamorgan have certainly put a more experienced side out than we have.

Looking around the country in fact it appears we are approaching the competition differently to most.

My thoughts exactly, Burgess has seemed to be really growing into his role and has made some fantastic catches and stumping a this year.

Perhaps he is coming as a batsmen for the red ball games and wicket keeper in the T20?

A good signing but a bit strange as well.

I feared the worst when the openers failed (again). It was good to see Hain regain some form and Brathwaite bat patiently until the final couple of overs.

Always satisfying to win the derby!

I do wonder why Rhodes doesn’t bowl himself that much, he always seems to take wickets.

My word, we really cannot bat can we!?

Malan looked in good touch, it was so disappointing for him to fall when he did and how he did.

I’m struggling with Hain at the moment, I know he has been pretty consistent and that is not something we can say about most of our batsmen. But, 30 in 100 balls just heaped the pressure on. I really think he needs to develop an out ball where he can keep the score ticking along even without the big shots. He has the talent and the experience we just need him to deliver that little bit more.

Malan out for 31, very frustrating as he was looking good and quite fluent. 108-2 and looking increasingly bogged down although Yates has just got his 50.

Pathetic

A good bowling and fielding effort, currently being undermined by a pants batting display.

‘A bit of a let down’ in terms of a good contest between the two teams. A win is a win and always to be desired. Beggars should definitely not be choosers but after the terrific effort by the bowlers (which was very enjoyable) it always seemed a formality. I would happily see lots more of wins like this than losses like to Durham.

As I said a fantastic result, very much needed and deserved.

I must say Burgess has been tremendous, it’s great seeing someone in top form behind the stumps.

A fantastic result, but to be honest a bit of a let down for the spectators.

Not taking anything away from the team, after a couple of iffy performances it was terrific for the bowlers to rip the Yorkies apart. Also for the openers to see it through very comfortably.

The points and the run rate bonus are very welcome.

It’s quite difficult isn’t it, we are all in agreement that something needs to change but actually dropping someone is tricky.

Nearly all of the players have made a contribution at some point but nearly all lack consistency.

For what it’s worth I would bring Malan in to open with one of the ‘big hitters’. I personally don’t rate Pollock but Hose hasn’t exactly made a case for inclusion either.

I would quite like to see Hain swap to number 3 as I am not convinced Rhodes is dynamic enough for such an important position. Lamb has played reasonably well but similar to Rhodes can get a bit bogged down, so Lamb would be in competition with Mousley at no. 5.

Burgess at 6, Woakes at 7 (I wish). We have two all rounders in Brathwaite and Bresnan who come in at 7 & 8 and if the top order has delivered then that’s fine, but if they are in at the half way point then we are in trouble.

Briggs Lintott and Death Bower co pledges the line up.

As a way of shaking it up, we could replace one the ‘B’ with Hose/Pollock coming in at 6 and Rhodes contributing 4 overs but if flexibility is needed to further rotate the bowlers we would be dependent on part time bowlers chipping in.

Just my thoughts, would be interested to see some other views.

With that average being the case for Brathwaite then that surely points at an imbalanced squad for him to be coming in at 6/7.

There definitely doesn’t seem to be a plan B if at least one of the openers doesn’t make a quick 40 odd.

Hain had been in great form but unfortunately for us he has not scored in these past two games.

I guess the idea is that one of Hain/Rhodes/Lamb scores at a run a ball whilst the other big hitters get the boundaries. The problem being is, like pointed out above, the openers are not consistently scoring big and then we lack a ‘finisher’ to get the boundaries at the end of the innings.

That felt a very poor batting performance.

I felt the bowlers did quite well except for the last over but at no point did we look like we were going to challenge.

Very disappointing.
