This season most of ‘our’ batsmen have made a score of substance (albeit not necessarily a century) however it has not happened consistently. In each match there is one score whilst the others have struggled (I’m not going to say failed as that is a touch strong I feel).
I think we have a right to expect more from an overseas pro, they have been paid to come over and do a specific job. I think Vihari was always going to struggle to adapt with so little preparation but I am disappointed with Malan. He came in and looked like he had the skills but as of yet he still hasn’t made a significant score. There is still time of course but I would hope that any overseas pro will be able to hit the ground running or at least get up to speed within a couple of matches.
Hopefully the second innings will see the big score we all want and he then kicks on for the rest of the season.
On the bright side, I think we may be seeing more of Sibley next year!
If that’s the case then that’s the decision, but my issue is that we (fans and members) are not really being communicated that narrative. Without which only bad feelings towards all of the parties can occur.
As for the game, not the best of starts…
When asked on Facebook the response from the club was not too specific….
No Chris Woakes….
A great team win. Fantastic to be there for four days watching it unfold.
Making good progress, very disciplined bowling. It’s nice to see the coach walking around the outfield engaging with the crowd and getting a different viewpoint of the game.
Each to their own ☺️
The game is delicately poised, if we were chasing I would not be confident but as we are facing arguably the best limited overs side in the country in recent years they have the talent to score the runs quickly.
It didn’t particularly bother me, but it was noticeable that every time they hit a pad they all went up together and there were lots of noises throughout.
I agree it’s better than a team being deathly silent mind.
A proper days cricket though: ups and downs, momentum coming and going, sun and clouds. How I’ve missed it.
Yes I thought that as well, a very vocal side in the field and I agree a bit over the top.
It’s something I’ve seen mentioned on other counties forums and blogs about Notts.
The batting has been very timid, definitely a line up devoid of confidence.
Our overseas players have not exactly fired for us this season have they. I know there is still time for Malan but they have been quite the disappointment so far.
Important morning session today, take a couple of quick wickets and we sieze the initiative. Conditions would suggest a good time to bowl.
It all comes down to communication, if the club or the ECB made a proper announcement with even the briefest of explanations then a lot of this negativity would disappear.
Yes on the first day I took my dad and was told at the gate that the disabled spaces were all taken, so I dropped him off and parked up the road and walked in.
Today I arrived a bit earlier by myself and saw a family friend drive in with a blue badge and go into the car park. I asked a steward and they said that blue badge holders can get in the ground to park and that there are no designated spaces for them.
So I called my dad and advised so he managed to get parked within the ground, just as well as he had forgotten his walking stick 🤦♂️
It would be good to have some official communication from the club for advice on this but hopefully word will get about amongst members so those with walking difficulty can get in when needed.
Any idea why Hameed is allowed to play after his call up but Sibley isn’t? Seems a trifle unfair. I suppose he may not be seen as an England starter unlike Sibley but it still looks like double standards!
From 238-3 I am rather disappointed that we are struggling to get to 300. I felt 350+was on for much of yesterday but an inability to progress the score when players were ‘in’ was frustrating.
Granted we are out of form as a batting unit and we were put in to bat.
Only six more needed so we may get the much needed extra batting point.
And just a beautiful six from Norwell! Lots happening this morning.
Yep I called today about disabled parking and was told it was first come first serve. Seems a bit off, if they are all taken I guess I’ll be dropping my dad off and parking elsewhere to walk in.
It’s little things like this that can grate as a member.
That is true he is being paid a terrific amount, when I listened to his interview on the Bears Podblast (incidentally a very entertaining listen) he did seem quite frustrated with it all even if he clearly couldn’t say anything too disparaging.
Nonetheless I’m very much looking to seeing whoever plays over the next (hopefully) four days. It’s been too long!
