Going today, got corporate tickets as meeting up with a Bear mate who lives on the south coast. Just hope that we put up a decent show. Not sure we have much chance against the Somerset batting line up. Lets see.
Well that was fun. Going tomorrow and have corporate tickets as a Bear mate comes up from Devon. I used to get really upset as I so looked forward to the T20. Don't bother now, as prefer the gallows humour. We have zero clue and to be honest I think we just throw money at it and hope. Our T20 signings have been awful. Either injured, away with IPL or get selected by their country. It is a proper mess up every season, 5 & 0 just about sums us up.
Going to this one, travelling in hope more than confidence. Please don't put in an embarrassing show.
Not looking like we are very good. At least in previous years we had the hope that one of our match winners would turn up and to be fair it did happen. This lot, you watch in pain, little hope and praying that we don't embarrass ourselves, Still, it was a lovey day in the sun. Will go and have a few good days over the summer, anything positive cricket wise will be a bonus.
I thought Thompson was supposed to be a strong T20 bowler?
OMG!!!! Only The Bears from all the professional clubs could be that pathetic. All of them should hand in their match fees following that useless excuse of being a county cricketer. We sometimes make it really hard to be a Bears supporter.
Booth bowled for the 2nds on 18th May, guess he is fit?
Also, what about Bamber, he is a wicket tacker that could cause damage upfront and he can also hit
You missed out Webster. Briggs will be a huge miss this season in the T20. Feels like the fast bowler attack looks stronger than it has, but we are a solid batter short. Really annoying some of the the pointless fixtures that always seem to rob us of key players. Surely, the players would benefit far more developing and playing with their counties.
Madness to leave out Booth. The team is going to need a near miracle to make finals day. Fairly embarrassing that is the squad we have for a Blast T20 quarter final.
We look weak in every department.
Lets pray for that miracle.
Is Bethell available, he is surely away with England for the ODI's?
Nothing really changes with the management over the last few years and this current crop of players. Frequently play some good stuff, get themselves in to great positions, pressure comes on and they bottle it. Management bottled it with team selection and senior players were found wanting. Oh well, we move on and go with hope to Somerset. Its the hope that kills you.
Highveld is spot on. We over the last few years have really let ourselves down. The Blast is so there for the taking, but counties seem to continue to not step up and take the competition seriously. There is so much more that can be done to improve chances of success. Following the suggestions above would go along way to address our failings. Its not that hard, we can't continue to flop about year on year.
We have seen this side over the last few years, they are inherent bottlers. They have the talent but simply cant be trusted to deliver. They bowled lovely at Worcester and won us the game after the batters were probably 20 runs short. Yet 2 days later they bowl like drains. Lets just hope that they have a go day on Friday. Hope we win the toss and bat first.
Usually very harsh on the T20 setup but credit when it is due, that was a really big win. Also, begs the question why did Gleeson not play against Durham?
It is impossible to understand how the management works behind our T20 efforts. Yet another game goes by where we should have come back from a tuff away fixture with a win. We seem so unbothered, bad luck fellas, good effort. I am sure, if they put some focus and effort in we would do far better. Yesterday, please tell me how we did not select our T20 specialist Gleeson and instead opted for Miles who has yet to play a T20 game this season. Gleeson is on a contract for the T20, he has only just become available following injury, bowled lovely on 1st appearance and then not selected, If we had picked Gleeson we would have won yesterday. Gleeson bowling 4 overs would have easily turned over a 8 run defeat. Just Why?
Miles for Gleeson sounds like a good plan? Assume we are trying to not qualify?
Is Gleeson going to be playing in the T20 moving forward.
Think it is getting close to a must win today. How do you fancy a Friday evening, at Edgbaston, against local rivals, with old boys Brookes, Hose and Issac around to embarrass us.
I agree with your points Paulbear, however, due to pathetic planning we literally have no options. That is why the team has been unchanged. Guess the only one we could consider bringing in is Yates. Hoping Gleeson comes back in soon. We are terribly unbalanced and lacking in belief. Carrying Latham (not a T20 player), Mo (scratching around, desire?) Garton (bowls one over?), Smith (poor kid comes in 8), Lintott (form? not actually very good?).
