If the captain gets away with similar shots all the time, is it any wonder younger members of the side think they can get away with similarly irresponsible dismissals?

Where’s the benefit to the team in playing that shot?
I appreciate there’s no catching the selectors eyes with batting out the draw, and going along at a strike rate around 50.
But surely just time in the middle is a positive?

I hope it gives Bethell something to think about. Pope's century means, barring some Bazball pick like him replacing Bashir as a spinner or injury, Jacob won't play in this test series and gives him a bigger target to get back in. Hope it's an interesting challenge to watch.

I asked a legitimate question, based on the multiple times senior members of the team let themselves and the team down with irresponsible dismissals.

Surely it should & would be expected for the captain of a side to set a good example to the rest of the team?

Or do some here think having differing standards for some players is acceptable?

Nope you're being fair, Davies has to set thr standards and he's played some irresponsible innings.
