And the official Warwickshire channels normally refer to the awful “red ball” so it’s good to seeing them recognise this as a first class hundred - presumably prompted by someone.
Dan Mousley is part of the England squad for the Hong Kong Sixes tournamet next weekend alongside former Bear Ethan Brookes.
Ed Barnard and Alex Davies played last year and it seems to have have been good for confidence for them last season.

Decent for Dan - but why, oh why (and how?) did we ever let Ethan Brookes get away?! The most amazing 50, by the sound of it (and retired hurt), coupled with an outstanding bowling performance! Oh dear!

Congrats Dan - named as captain for the Lions 50 over side next month.

To captain the England Lions who play South Africa A later this month.
Yes, fairly strong Lions squad too.
Will miss the first 4 Blast matches.
it seems an odd choice, to me. I feel pretty confident in saying Dan Mousley is never playing test cricket for England, but then they haven't seriously been using the 'Lions' as a feeder for the test team in many many years. who needs stuff like that when you can pick people based on 90 second clips on youtube? #vibes
I guess they liked his leadership when he captained those white ball games? or maybe they like his #vibes
of course I am largely grumbling from a selfish perspective but i feel like the Bears' loss is very unlikely to translate into either Mousley's, or England's gain, in terms of him getting a place in either red or white ball teams.

More, if he's also in the 50 over squad.

Right OK didnt know they were playing List A fixtures too. Its mad that one of our most integral t20 players could miss literally half games like this.
Be interesting to find out what England's thoughts are re Mousley. I think it is fair to say he isn't expected to be an England test player so maybe the four day game is just for his leadership potential. Must be seen as a prospect for White Ball though and I think he fits in both senior squads, so you'd expect he is named in the limited overs Lions squads. Up until now (and still, maybe) I'd been supportive of our players in the Lions squads as it does elevate them and expose them to coaching and development higher up the pyramid. If he misses a whole block of the Blast for this, however, might reconsider that...

honestly I don't think he's quite good enough, still time to develop though but I don't see that level of higher end potential in someone who'd played first class cricket for about 6 years/45 games before he got his maiden first class ton.
I mean if say Joe Clarke has never got a chance for England in any format, having significantly outperformed Mousley in all 3 formats both across his career right now, and at the same point in their respective careers, i just don't see it.

I think Joe Clarke also didn’t get a chance because of his involvement in that rape trial a few years back. He was in the Lions squad at that point.
