Rumours coming out of Sussex are that Aaron Thomason is being released.
The gossip suggests that it’s potentially due to a disciplinary issue. Which makes sense as apparently he was key for the first half of the year; and then suddenly disappeared, even playing minor counties at one point.

Yes, I think there were disciplinary issues related to his departure from Edgbaston.
What a wasted talent!

But on a more positive note, I believe that Chris Wright has just been (somewhat belatedly) awarded his county cap by Leicestershire, having achieved a career best score of 87 and taken a six wicket haul in his last two matches.

Let us not forget the Old Bear who has retired from Test cricket today:

Yes, sorry to see Chopra retire:

Although he had a good career, I can't help but feel that he never reached his full potential.

I was pleased to see that Glamorgan gave Rikki Clarke a good send-off:

Because the club had no idea how to handle players then, Ooo, wait a minute..... From what I heard at lunchtime during his final appearance v Kent, he still had no idea if he was staying or going. If you consider that during the same game, we lost Wright and the retirement of Trott, didn't the so-called management think that losing 3 players like that was all a bit of a talent drain in one go - Obviously not.

It may not fit in with a "Bash the Club" agenda; but I have it on the authority of a close friend who knew Keith Barker at the time that Keith had strong personal reasons for wanting a move to the south coast.

Sometimes family comes first. We forget that most players have a partner who may have their own career which has opportunities in other parts of the country.

Will the club be putting out a released list I wonder?
Lots of other clubs have already announced which players will be leaving/have left.
I think it’s only fair Warwickshire do the same, as much as anything so that those players can get the goodbye messages from supporters that they deserve, and that fans know what to expect next season.

GerryShedd, it's not so much a case of 'Club bashing' but we have seen some players treated really badly over the years and this season is not much different. The club appear to not realise that they may be sportsmen but they are human and need to be treated as such and for some, this may be the only way they might ever have of earning a decent living.

I thought we were discussing Keith Barker and you were suggesting that he was badly treated but I pointed out that he had his own personal reasons for leaving so it was not fair to criticise the club.

I did not suggest he was badly treated at all, just that the rumours were rife about him going but to have it finally sorted whilst there was an important game going on didn't show the club in a good light.

Well, you said that the Club had no idea how to handle players; but maybe we can just agree to disagree.

I said in general that the club had no idea how to handle players, not just Barker - Chopra comes to mind, his form was fine but they let him hang on at the club, not getting any games including getting 97 in a T20 game and never playing another game in that format again and letting players go like they did with Wright when he appeared to still be a good bowler also comes to mind. Now they have done it with Lamb who didn't seem to want to go either.
