Yorkshire, after consultation with its members, want to keep 14 County Championship games. They had a vote.
Bethell situation is crazy to me, since that Test series in NZ he's barely played any cricket.
I wouldnt have re engaged Hassan Ali.
However whilst I acknowledge Hassan's performances in 4day cricket in previous seasons have been a bit mixed, but by no means bad, and he has had a bit of a patchy availability record, I don't think he's taken the piss or anything. The international call ups have been beyond his, and our, control. In T20 he's been really good.
Think Brookes is coming back from being injured for while? Could be wrong.
He's career average stacks up well against those of Zaman Akhtar and Ajeet Singh Dale and everyone's raving over them two so...
But I'm a little bit underwhelmed too to be honest. Never really struck me as somebody who's brings something different to what we already have. Like Thompson is very sharp and a genuine good no. 8 bat. Gilchrist has a strike rate of 47 which is decent though, he'll have had to contend with some flat pitches down there too to be fair.
Kent seem sad to lose him but there is an acknowledgement that he's spent a good amount of time on the treatment table too.
Feel like we have quite a few comings and going with regards to seam bowlers the past few seasons.
Henry Brookes and Manraj Johal
His social media seems to indicate that Friday was his last game for us. To be fair Friday's celebrations seemed to indicate as much too.
Hello Ian
Fair play to Latham, and fair play to Davies (sorry forum), this is probably a tricky pitch so keeping wickets in hand then going big looks shrewd. Awful, awful bowling though, goodness me.
Incredibly short boundaries.
He hasn't played county cricket regularly for atleast a decade. And he's not shy of a franchise comp so..
Archie Bailey is signing for Durham
Terrific knock from Ethan Brookes
Yes and by the end of the group stages he wasn't even getting in the side. Think we finished bottom of the North group that year.

He was only ever signed as back-up, I'm not sure we saw him as an emerging player we were going to develop into high end. As such I wouldn't describe him as poor, but maybe just "Performed as expected".

Miles did quite well that one season but 122 wickets over six years in all formats is a poor return. I wish him well and he will be at his level in the second division.
Maybe we can get Singh Dale coming in the opposite direction as an upgrade.
I'm not so sure Tayls, he was signed in 2018 with Norwell after the release of Barker and Wright and went straight into the side. Played 7 championship games in 2022 and took just 11 wickets @ 63, got given a 3 year contract off the back of it, he was given a tremendous amount of backing. Warwickshire were very good to him and I'm tempted to say the return we got back off him was a bit disappointing, 2021 aside. He can't say he never got a fair shake.
Think I've said previously this is an excellent move him though and I hope he does well, he always tried hard and he did have his moments.
Off the top off my head only Yates, Hain, Woakes and OHD remain from the squad that won the championship in 2021. Blimey.
I appreciate I'm probably missing somebody totally obvious who played a vital role.
Yes!
Yates not moving well at all out there, now batting with a runner.

Passed me by that Davies isn't part of the 100. I don't want to start another pile on but was quite looking forward to seeing Barnard / Yates opening as thought that was quite complimentary. Good to see Booth, Hamza and Taz get a run in the side again. Will Bamber do 50 over?
When Davies got released from the Hundred to play ODC for us in 2023 he slotted into the middle order so I think it would be reasonable to expect Barnard and Yates to open the innings again.
As it stands it looks a decent opportunity for somebody like Jani or Wylie to get a game.
