That is some of the best bowling I have seen in the last 6-7 overs of a T20 game to close out a win. They got 52 from the last 7 overs whereas we got 76 from our last 5. It looks as though they fold as soon as Malan goes or cannot win if he isn't seeing Yorkshire home.

They're missing Bairstow obviously but think the natives will be getting restless as they're poor in both competitions this season.

Just bring the same energy when we're doing well...

And to be fair this is some fight back!

Some people only post on here when we're struggling I swear...

Anyway, lovely little cameo from Garton here, he can bat...

Yes but we're struggling when on paper we should be one of the better teams in this format. People are just really disappointed.

Davies seems untouchable as captain. Think there's a certain arrogance about him where he thinks he always knows best as I'm sure we will see shortly when we field.

Very good points BristolBear. I've said several times but having Davies doing captaincy keeping and opening is such a bad strategy. Current and previous management seem in awe of him. I do like him as a batsman by the way.

I thought tonight was actually a pretty decent performance, given the players available. Latham is doing what he's there to do, and unless there is someone better waiting in the wings, he should stay where he is.

Mo is a concern though, and I'm not sure if his heart is really still in it. I also wonder whether Smith is wasted at 7/8, as we don't need to ruin someone else in the Chris Benjamin role.

My main gripe is with the Sky commentators, who did everything they could to big up the Northants players, and mentally try and will them over the line to victory. Conversely, everything the Bears did was assessed critically and with a negative spin. Just really, really poor.

Totally agree on the latter especially Dominic Cork. It was all about how Northants could win and nothing about how we could.

Well you need more than 3 batsmen to score when chasing a score like that.

Lack of depth in the batting highlighted. Yates could come in but other than that we have no other options to change it up.

Yates for Smith the obvious change going forward.

It will be interesting to see how our strategy fares against a good in-form team.
Still lots of questions we will need to answer as the competition progresses.
Latham oozes class but can he get us off to a flyer if Davies gets out? Or does he continue to steadily accumulate while others look to smash it?
Good to see Garton delivering at the weekend. I am a critic but his fielding is exceptional and he batted and bowled well too. If he keeps up this standard he will be an asset to the team.
And how do we get Dicky Gleeson, when fit, into the line up?

Instead of Lintott or Smith on current form.

We lost by just 3 runs.

Theo Wylie and Taz A are back. Both made a good contribution - Theo with bat, Taz with ball (3 wickets).

Theo scored 13!

Garton is having a very good game so far!

OHD also and they've seen sense by not persisting with Sylvester.

So has Dan pulled out of the Lions game starting Friday I assume?

So one change and the same pathetic pace attack as last night hmmm at least Moeen offers another spin option.

Excellent post Andy.
OHD can do a job in this format. Dicky Gleeson and Hassan Ali can't arrive soon enough.
Garton is an unfortunate legacy of Robinson. He will be on a fantastic salary and rarely delivers in the dozen or so games he turns out for every season. Get rid.

Gleeson finishes in the IPL Sunday or Tuesday so might be available for Yorks next Friday. Hassan finishes on Sunday so he should be back. Unless Pakistan say no!

Might be without Hain tomorrow.

Couple of little tweaks, Yates isn't a regular t20 player for us but he has had some decent games for us in this comp as an opener so get him back up there.

Can Latham take the gloves? Just because he's a pretty poor outfielder, not hugely mobile and looks as though he's on the same diet as Sylvester.

Trent Bridge is an incredibly difficult ground to defend on to be fair. You either have to bowl very full or go splice length. The only one who tried to do that was Miles.

Garton, this kid is weak. You see it in his face and you see it in his action. He'll have good games but he'll have more bad ones. Baffles me when people call for him to be in the 4day side. He can bat though and is a worthy fielder.

The selection of Sylvester was a weird one. I still think without recruitment we have better bowlers available than him right now. You telling me OHD couldn't have done a better job? He has death bowling experience too. Have we not anybody in the academy who can bowl serviceable seam? Blakemore? Where's Che?

Even with all the players missing i still don't think we picked our best XI from those available tonight.

Onto tomorrow, put the boundaries out, prepare a turner, pick Briggs, Lintott and Taz and hope the oppo hole out?

Also, we really, really miss Dan Mousley in this format, if anything for his bowling. With him playing we may just about have defended that tonight. He gets wickets.

Agree about Dan. It's mad he misses the first 4 T20 games just to give the touring India side some batting practice!

Just so poor and I like him as a batsman but Davies is never a captain in a thousand years. I wish he'd just concentrate on batting or keeping, he's not up to doing all 3!!

We cant play anymore games with this bowling attack

Hopefully Bamber plays tomorrow but worrying signs

Agreed but when you think of all the bowlers missing it's no great surprise.

Awful bowling or sensational batting? Hopefully the spinners will slow them down.

Great come back after those 2 early wickets. Now let's see what on paper looks an average pace attack get on.

It's incredible to think Benjamin played all those games and Barnard didn't.

Good knock from Davies too which will have annoyed many I'm sure...

Nail on head Andy re both points. Although I'm hoping Davies isn't opening, keeping and captaining.
