So Ethan Brookes in for Danny Briggs.

If that's the case, what does Hain have to do to get an England call-up?!

I agree.

What will be the effect of the news from the England camp that, because of COVID, they are picking a whole new squad for the ODI series against Pakistan? Those chosen are being pulled out of the current round of matches. Ben Stokes is going to captain the England team so presumably he won't be seen again in this match. Sam Hain for England? All will be revealed at 11.00 am, apparently.
We live in interesting times!

While most of the batsmen (Yates excepted) struggled today, I see that our T20 old boy Colin de Grandhomme scored 174 not out for Hampshire against Surrey. That's 53 more than Malan has scored in eight Championship innings so far. I'm not saying that he would have been a better bet because he has only just finished playing for New Zealand. Just emphasising how much Malan has under-performed so far.
Anyway, I can't comment in too much detail because I was disloyal and chose to go to the Cheltenham Festival today rather than Edgbaston.

Probably a good deal for everyone, Alex in particular, though I thought he would have a role to play as a second spinner in the 50 over competition, especially now that Lintott has acquired a deal in The Hundred.

I would imagine that a few of those who played in the four day second team game in Leeds will come into contention for selection, such as Yates, Sibley, Malan and Norwell.

I see that Jake is a wildcard pick for Southern Brave in The Hundred.

My thoughts exactly - Adam who? Finn who? Will who?
And Imran Tahir is a bit long in the tooth at 42 to be playing childish games.

Beating them 4 times would be superb. They are probably the least likeable team in county cricket.
Can’t stand Mullaney, Fletcher or Moores.

But on the other hand, Alex Hales is just so lovable (not).

He has signed a contract extension until 2023:

He seems to have stepped very effectively into Tim Ambrose's shoes, so I think this is good news.

Regarding the bowling, Jake Lintott can't come back soon enough. Jacob Bethell may well be, as others have said, a great prospect. But he looked against Durham to be slightly out of his depth and that could hinder his development rather than help him.
At the risk of repeating myself, the other option should be, if possible, to recall Alex Thomson from his loan at Derbyshire. In his last three T20 spells for them, he has bowled seven overs for 46 runs - an economy rate better than any of the Bears have achieved so far.

That performance wasn't even worth getting out of bed to watch, let alone travelling all the way from Bristol.
I think we may have unrealistic expectations of Brathwaite with the bat. His career T20 average of 14 is the same as his average in the Blast so far this year.

With junk food ads soon to be banned on TV before 9.00 pm, the companies affected must be so glad that players in The Hundred will be parading around advertising their unhealthy products.

Maybe the ECB are secretly congratulating themselves that it really is possible to attract people to cricket who don't like cricket, which is the whole basis of The Hundred, otherwise known as Cricket, Re-hashed And Pimped.
What a shame that there isn't a handy acronym that they could use.

I seem to remember that on the old Bearsfans board, someone labelled Curran as a "short-arsed trundler," something that comes into my mind every time I see him bowl.
