Had to leave watching the game at lunch. Just got back and can't quite believe how the score advanced in the afternoon. Superb contribution by Yates Now to get an innings win tomorrow.
Yes we basically got 320 in 60 overs after Barnard was out. Proper Baz Ball style......

Grant Stewart has done this to a few sides down the years, he is dangerous.
Yeah he's an all rounder we've done very well overall on a good track.
The 4 going through in each group is just a deliberate ploy to have more teams still having something to play for in the latter group stages. See also football play offs.
We do have an unfortunate habit of losing at this stage!
A decent score got to bowl well, hopefully the 3 spinners are on form as they have been.
Good luck to Chris tomorrow. Might be the last time he plays a test for England so hope he takes a few wickets.

Ah I didn't realise that was a rule but makes sense.
Also worth noting that Lawrence, who got 58 off 33 in their final group game win, is in the England squad for Thursday. Don't think him or Woakes will be in England line up so presumably him and Woakes play on Thursday, or neither?
Hmmm, you just know Lawrence will be released but not our man!
Hassan was called up earlier than expected by Pakistan so assume he's done for this season.
Also considering no Hain, Moeen, Woakes, Briggs, Miles currently available.
Chris is obviously a great net bowler! Wish he'd just give up on the test team and focus on white ball only for England and us when available.

Harmer showing Bess and Lintott how it’s done.
It’s a pitch made for him, and he’s using it.Am still curious as to how the ECB think it’s fair to hold Woakes out completely knowing he won’t play at all. But let Lawrence play Essex’s first innings score a huge hundred and then substitute him, even though again they know he won’t be playing.
It's not at all fair of course, we will still lose this game but there's a definite bias towards and against certain players and counties.
I think we will lose this!
Certainly an interesting side with 9 bowling options I make it.

Sam Hain said on commentary that he hopes/expects to be back for the Trent Bridge game, which is good news - ahead of schedule.
Hain for Barnard? If the latter isn't bowling and bats low down might as well play the extra batter, and rely on the many spin options.

Quarter finals coincide with the 3rd Test at Headingley. I think.
They do, but it would be nice if Woakes can still play as doubt he will be picked by England. As for a Hassan replacement how about someone like Adam Milne who knows Edgbaston well.
Excellent win, Dan M is going to be a big star.
Phew! No more Brookes though please, the guy is a liability. Surprised Barnard wasn't given a go.
Bowling well so far though.
Same team I assume as no changes to the 14 man squad. My local game too - well 40 minutes away - so I'm expecting a Maxwell long overdue masterclass.
