Well deserved and long overdue. Just a pity that he's not been in prime form lately. It often happens that way,

Now that Birmingham City Council is, in effect, bankrupt, will they ask the Club to pay the £20 million still owed?

Hopefully the future is in good hands.

With Mustard on one side and Garlick on the other, it should be a tasty encounter.

At least it's not quite as bad as 1953 when Warwickshire won the toss and batted and the match was all over in a day - Warwickshire all out 45 and 52, Surrey all out 146.

I'd be surprised if it is sold out, though the fact that an East Midlands county is in the Final could make a difference.

Mr Robinson has his say about this fixture:

And we learn:: "Robinson hopes Chris Rushworth (hamstring) will prove his fitness but expects to be without Alex Davies in addition to Hasan Ali while Liam Norwell is unlikely to return this season."

You do wonder if the "time of year" had something to do with yesterday. The game at Leicester followed almost identical pattern. Leics won the toss, fielded, skittled Gloucs out for a really low score and apart from a shaky start knocked the runs off with ease.

I'm certain that Rhodes would have bowled first if he had won the toss.
I saw Gloucestershire twice last week win easily when they bowled first so I'm sure they would have done the same against Leicestershire who are the surprise team of the competition.

Before we sack the coach and half the playing squad, perhaps we should step back and realise that, so far this season, we have, in all competitions, won 22 games and lost just nine. We are fourth in Division One of the Championship and topped our groups in both the Blast and the One Day Cup.
That doesn't mean it's ok to lose at the quarter and semi-final stages but it does mean that the season has been far from a disaster.

Here's what Liam Dawson had to say after the match:

Looks a bit grey at Edgbaston but hopefully we shall miss the rain.
A pity about losing the tos (again).

Any more making the short trip over from Warwicks?

Not that I know of.

Worcestershire have just announced the signing of Tom Taylor. After losing all those players they definitely needed to replace them. This is the best of the three they have announced so far, a decent bowler and become very handy with the bat over the course of this season.

It's rumoured that there may be a couple or so more signings by Worcestershire in the near future.

Glad to hear that he is still alive, though continuing his battle with cancer.
It's a bit strange that Henry Olonga tweeted about his death and then confirmed that it wasn't true.

I see that Kent have a country membership for those who live over 75 miles from Canterbury. Because I live over 80 miles from Edgbaston, a Warwickshire 75 mile limit would benefit me, though it doesn't seem all that generous.
I recall that there may have been, in the past, not only a country membership but a distant country membership for those living a really long distance away.
Reading Leslie Duckworth's Club history, I see that in 1972, the country membership limit was just 15 miles and a proposal to increase it to 20 miles was defeated. The ordinary membership rate was increased to £7 (!).
Going back still further, Duckworth reveals that in 1959, membership rates had gone up from £2 2s (two pounds and two old shillings) for ordinary members to £3 3s; and for country members from £1 10s to £2 2s. It was pointed out at the members' meeting that members had free admission to Test matches (yes, really!).
I also read with some amusement that, in the debate, there were those arguing for more use of out-grounds!

I agree that Country Membership would be a boon; but no sign of it. I think my Senior membership has gone up by £5, which is pretty good considering the rate of inflation.

Every credit to him - he's resurrected his career and scored three hundreds in the Metro Bank competition.
